So last night I was IMed by someone wanting to purchase my treehouse build. We started chatting, since I had my RL location in my 1st life section on my profile....
...well, it turns out she works about 15 minutes from where I live!
It made me laugh, that out of ALL the users in SL (that span across the globe), I run into someone I might have actually seen in the grocery store. Considering this is a relatively podunk town, it made the coincidence that much more....coincidental.
Has anyone else experienced this "shrunken world" syndrome in SL now that the user base is increasing by leaps and bounds?

Turns out Beryl and I live in the same very small city. First time I've ever met anyone from an online game that lived that close. Now if only she would drop that restraining order....

I met a guy awhile back and after some talking we learned we both lived in the same city. We asked each other where and, at the same time, we both named the same intersection. It turns out we live one block away from each other!

I have the weirdest of all: I moved-in about 100m from this guy and we never talked much utnil I was about to move out. We found out that while we'd been living next to each other in SL, we'd also been living only a few hundred yards apart in RL ! In the SAME apartment complex even! I know, it's impossible. I take it as proof beyond doubt that Reality is a Dream, and my dreams seem to have a funny sense of humor.

From: David Valentino Turns out Beryl and I live in the same very small city. First time I've ever met anyone from an online game that lived that close. Believe it or not, David, I know of another player here in Vancouver and also one who lives in Battle Ground... though of course, I can't say the names since the information is not part of the first life profile. There seems to be a number of SL people in the Portland area, though, so it's not really that surprising to me that there's at least a few of us on the Washington State side of the Columbia River. What would be really surprising to me is if I met somebody who grew up in the same tiny southeastern WA town I did. Imagine someday having your high school or college reunions in SL!

I know Chip Midnight's gender, profession, and the town he (or she) lives in, and if he (or she) doesn't back off his (or her) crusade, I will reveal that information right here on the forums!
(I used to live within - I think - about a mile of Chip, but I've never met him (or her))

I know someone else who lives in Germantown though I've never seen them in RL (unless in the grocery store or at starbucks without knowing it). My fingers are still crossed that I'll meet a fabulously gorgeous and intelligent single woman who lives nearby and is single

LOL, that's way too true. Either that or I'll get the speech about what a "nice" guy I am and how much she values our "friendship"

If there's ever an open D.C. SLifer get together I'd probably try to attend, so maybe I'd see you there. As far as women go, allow me to share a hypothesis based on personal observation; there are no celibate salsa dancers.

I discovered a few days ago that I went to the same small university as one of the QA Lindens. Needless to say, once we found that out, I never did get an answer to the technical question I'd originaly IMed him for...got too busy talking about the school.
