Wow, I go away for a day and I come back to this strange thread from Paris in my forums. I cannot say definitively whether or not it is actually her, although having spoken with her in game on several ocassions when she was bugging me for land and animations, it reminded me of her immediately when I read it (she also sent out a notecard explaining her actions and apologizing to everyone, but this was prior to the land destruction in the island sims I believe). All I do know is whoever created the post has never posted in my forums before and has an email address that is also consistent with it being Paris (and no, not a throwaway webmail account).

It actually does bring up an interesting point that any third party site has to deal with - how you confirm the identity of the player. I suppose I could go the route that GOM does and have the person do something inworld to confirm their identity, but for forums it seems overkill. Neehai does have a point, though for all intents and purposes the post does seem legit. It's not the first time a banned player has gone that route, though why she picked now is beyond me.

Briana - in interpreting the TOS clause about linking to content on other websites, we've tried to take a pretty liberal approach and only delete links that contain broadly offensive material (videos of beheading people in Iraq) or material that's posted as a specific personal attack against an individual (a picture of someone giving an obscene gesture).

We do not have any interest in trying to control content on 3rd party websites, fansites or not. It's up to the moderators of those sites to decide how they want to manage their sites.

BTW, I think the TOS violation thing Briana was referring to was basically going to another site and posting something that would be a TOS violation here, and then linking to it from here. Her concern was that the thread Kris started did not point to anything TOSable when she created her post, but the thread did contain a personal attack eventually. I am glad to see that LL does take a hands off approach to most of it, and thank you for clarifying, Robin.

FWIW, it does seem harsh to not do something (sell in GOM?) with the L$ that she owns.

It's basically increasing the risk of owning L$, reducing the guarantee that they are stable.

Yes, you can think of this as a fine (a 1000usd fine ), but I dont see a court of law, and it's an arbitrary fine.

If she'd had no L$, that'd be a usd0 fine.

If she'd had usd10000 of L$, would she have had to pay a usd10000 fine?

Of course, it could be hot air. Maybe she has L$100, and claims it cost her usd1000?

Everything exhausts me, and I'm just plain weird most of the time now. Not that being weird most of the time is unusual for me

I'd love to come inworld and visit for a bit one of these days. I'll try to soon.
