Ok how many are TSO Refugee's here... Go ahead raise your hand if you are. Ok today I went back one last time was going to give away my massed fortune there so that I could possibly sway several more to swing over to SL with us. In responce to the Thread I wrote on the message boards in less than 4 hrs of its inception it was deleted. The post was neither derogatory nor hateful. It was plain simple and to the point. Its sad I so desperately want to get half the people and friends that I knew in TSO here to play but unfortunatly The Reign over there is getting tighter and tighter. SO I take my hat off to those helpless hapless people that are stuck in The non-paralle world of TSO... Any of you other Refugee's have friends and family members in TSO get em out now!!!! Big brother is watching and soon they will all be zombies making PIZZA and Saying their ABC's backwards. Hurry bring them to the Promise land of SL its the home we all dreamed of.. Note only half of this thread was meant as a real representation to the situation..Any resemblence to person or persons live or dead is purely coincidental. Sincerely Shadow Weaver

I played that horrible excuse for a game and glad I quit. Now being that you posted to Maxis forums and they quickly deleted the post just proves that EA has issues about players leaving their game. Maxis is like the government in how it controls many many things in our society. Maxis wants to control every aspect of their game and not give the players the right to decide on what should and shouldn't be implemented into the game. Look how long it took Origin, the devolopers of Ultima Online to finally add features that players begged for, for years. Both of those games are EA based and I know for a fact that EA is struggling. Few months back I posted an article I read about how EA was doing as of that time. Their plan with TSO was to get somewhere in the neighborgood of 275,000 subscribers to TSO by April 2003. As of this typing, not sure on the exact number they only have around 85,000 subscribers. ONLY, now to me that is alot of people playing that game. I think EA has forgotten what it takes in this day and time to make a good game. These days if you fail to listen to the people who play your game, you will ultimately lose those people. Controlling content the way you see fit is not how people like being told as how to play. TSO could've been good, but the reason it fails is because the publisher tells the devoloper what should and should not be implemented at said times. It reminds me so much of the government telling certain corporations what and what not to produce at certain times. Only difference this is a virtual reality population control device and not a real world one. That is the long explanation as to why TSO Sucks today, will suck tommorow and will suck for all time. I too, am a TSO Refugee. Although, I was able to escape back in december. Some nice fellow, Sir Triadian, posted about SL on the forums. A few minutes after I read it, it was gone. I am very thankful that I was able to read this post before it was deleted, becuase, I probably never would have heard about Second Life.

*waves* Yet another TSO escapee And there are a lot more here too. Can't remember how I found SL now, wasn't from the TSO boards. I was getting desperately bored with TSO and searching the internet for a replacement - got accepted to the SL and There betas. Waited up all night to enter SL (it was 4pm-10pm at that time, which was 12am-6am for me) and never looked back. The sad thing is that I know a lot of people that would love it here, but I can't get back to let them know Maybe I will sign up for one of the free trial accounts and do a bit of recruiting

A friend of mine and I made it into the Beta for TSO and we played it quite a bit - up until the release date. However, I could not see myself paying monthly to sit around yelling maze directions ("south 4, west 1 yellow!" , playing the code game, or making those gawdawful pizzas. We quit when it went live. How many other people agree with this next statement? I think the "chat bubble" idea stinks to high heaven. It is nearly impossible to follow a conversation, especially if you have to look away from the screen for a couple of moments due to some RL event. That's the main reason I was disappointed in "There," too. While it's fun to drive around in buggies and on hoverboards, the conversations are far too messy. Down with the chat bubbles! I am not a comic book character! Give me chat dignity or give me death! ;o) TSO was slow, buggy, inflexible, laggy, and is based on a 2D graphics engine designed in 1998-99. The game also forces you to interact with other people on a very regular basis. Not everyone wants to do that - and indeed, it's not always convenient even for those who do want it. I say we all get trial accounts, storm in there (and in There!), and recruit everyone we see into the ranks of SL. Unfortunately the 3D card requirements of SL are keeping a great number of people from trying it out. Just a few of my thoughts on and off the subject, along with a ramble or two. ;o) -J

LMAO...well I did that last night my sim had over 1.5 mil in TSO cash so I went in last night for a coupla hours and passed out money like crazy but at the same time told them I am Leaving TSO and told them about Second life needless to say several bit hard they are emailing me and letting me know they plan on down loading and installing it today so look out for a new influx...I only have 250k left in there so this time I am going to be judicial in whome I pass the money out too. I have two more cities to go to and by the time I am done I hope to have recruited 15 to 20 more sl members if its at all possible. Oh yeah and I tell them strait up about the refferal program so that they understand why its important to use the link I give them. << learned a valuable lesson though... Best thing to do is get their email addy then come in here and let linden labs send them the link and referal based off the referal page that lets you input referal addys. This way you at least have talked to them once to get their email addy vs. a spam list. Chants "STORM TSO>>STORM TSO>>>"LOL

BTW - the fact that any post about SL is deleted from the TSO forums is a testament not only to the fear TSO's marketing department feels when a rival product comes along, but I suspect it is also a reaction caused by said rival having a superior product in the first place.
I think they know what SL is and how bad it can be for their business. Shall we demonstrate it more aggressively? ;o)

LOL - right on, Shadow. ;o) I hereby announce the birth of The Sims Online Liberation Organization (TSOLO). All are welcome to join TSOLO in its mission to save TSO inhabitants from the mindlessness of pinata bashing, canvas painting, and guitar playing! No more shall they be forced to listen to the sim-ulated squabblings of their peers, and favorite pop recordings - Charlie Brown's teachers do not live in SL! (Translated for TSO readers: "whuu whaa whuuu waaa whuaaaaaa!" No more phone booths! No more taking out the trash! No more blurry bathtub shots! Yes, folks, spread the word. TSOLO is here and ready for action! ;o) Tongue firmly planted in cheek. -J

Free from the shackles of TSO, I am extricating my wife who runs top houses in two different cities. She plans on bringing as many friends with her as she can... and she's very persuasive.
We have been playing since November and the developers just never listened. Oh sure, they gave us a ctrl-h, and you can now own more than one set of clothing (omg... the glitches with that!), and you can lock skill points... but we're still looking at the same ol' furniture and running through the same ol' interactions, still having to "green" like crazy (which now you can die if you don't take care of it), still having to just sit at home if you want people to show up and give you hours to crack the leaderboards. Ugh...
There's just so much more freedom in SL without all the hassles and worries. With all the creative things you can do the possibilities seem endless...

Hehe I went in and did the same thing! I feel sorry for the ones that can't get cable where they are and are for ever stuck in the mindless maze, screaming pizza ingredents, and having to green. I told as many as I and IMed every one of my friends. Now I have down loaded There. Sent the invitation before I started SL in April. NO comparision. So my main objective is tell as many ppl in THERE about SL. I'll probally get booted.

Technically, we are not TSO Refugees. A refugee is usually someone, who through circumstances beyond their control, is uprooted from their home. Said people have to hit the road, and struggle to survive in unfamiliar or hostile places. In short, being a refugee sucks. I consider myself a TSO Immigrant. I still (for the time being) maintain links with TSO, but I spend more time in SL. Eventually, I may win over a few converts, and the good people of Linden Labs will have a shot at the folks that EA took for granted. In the future, do not consider yourselves refugees. All of us just went to a better place that doesn't suck.

Teeny I know your definition is totaly correct...I just used the term loosly as an attention getter...Refugee seemed to attract attention more so than an Immigrant does dont ask me why...but...in a way you can say it was as though some were Refugees...seeking asylum in a better place to be removed from tyranny...
TOnight was my last night in TSO...
over the last coupla days I gave away over 1.9 mil in TSO money trying to win converts to come see SL. If they do great if they dont...the money was just going to be trashed anyway when my Account died.
BUt in the end I hope that they do come and I hope that they do love it here as all of us do so very much.
Take care and keep those still lost in TSO in your thoughts and minds....
Shadow...

Count me in on this battle. I have approximately 300k in Fuji and I have been debating what to do with it -- I wanted to close my account before the 5th consecutive month went by that I was no longer playing. Muahaha! Now I know what needs to be done!
It's a shame Maxis paired up with EA. I find it ironic that when you load up one of EA's games, you get a little kid whispering "Challenge Everything." How then can they find it difficult to believe that their playerbase does just that? How can they justify the fact that they have slapped players with ideas down like children caught with their hands in the cookie jar since TSO's beta?
The message I heard loud and clear back in March was "Challenge us will you? I think not. You'll get what we decide, when we decide. Our way or the highway."
I chose the highway -- I like where it led me.

*raises hand* and *raises Frankie Beach's hand* I think I finally had enough of TSO awhile ago but just recently did I actually stop subscribing. I gave my whole account to a friend of mine, it had a couple million in Mount Fuji. I had beta tested the game and it was fun but SL just has so much compared to TSO. Thank goodness no more mindless PIZZA! I have gotten alot of friends from TSO over to SL but sometimes they just don't stick around.

Yup, I ended my boredom of Pizza making and Code Calling back in March.. and just so happened to stumble upon this magnificent world I use to reside in the Test Center server.. and have so far only found one other person that i knew from there out of coincidence. Just got the email yesterday that my account was ending, and i said WOO HOO! lmao I've been to several of the TSO mixers, but haven't seen one lately.. perhaps my hours of play. Heh, even made an ANTI-MAXIS group that a lot of people joined. I actually went into constructing a workable pizza machine just to give ya'll nightmares.. or to point and laugh So until next time, "ST,MC,LS" Forever in a grave! --Water

That would be hilarious to see a pizza machine in SL... as long as it was burning!
Actually, most of my pain and frustration with TSO came from being in a top house competing for hours. Sitting around in a house all hours of the night just because we need to beat that one house ahead of us that sent mafia people after us... omg, how utterly boring.
