Why are you guys signing up for the Luna Lottery? I never see anybody there. I've had a 240sm store this last round and have watched the map regularly hours of the day and days of the week. Maybe I'm missing some odd time; but I swear there's never ever anybody there.
It was a fabulous demonstration of how to build an effective mall with its low texture load and fanning views. Thank you Lindens for building and sharing it. Now that it's just another dead mall, I was hoping y'all would show us how to do something totally new that we'd never thought of before. Or at least once again show us how to do something correctly that we're royally screwing up.
Wull anyway, I'm not gonna spend the tier on it this time around.

My main place is in Sistiana, which is pretty much one SIM over from where Luna is currently. I actually see people all the time there. Not huge crowds, but almost always at least a few people. And I walk through there quite often to see what's available. If shop owners would update their items more often (of course this goes for any shop or mall), I'd go back even more often.

I make a few sales in Luna, but honestly I won't be signing up for the next lottery.
The problem with malls in SL is that if you don't have a theme, people aren't necessarily going to wander around like they would in RL. There's no incentive to "hang out at the mall" in SL, whereas in RL there's a certain relaxation / entertainment value to it.

*shrug*
I have a 16m kiosk. It's free, and while I don't sell a lot (mostly the L$1 items as newbies explore Luna) I have had a few mention they got to my main shop from remembering my Luna kiosk, so.... I think of it less as a shop and more like free advertising.

Nostalgia for me more then anything. I spent a lot of time wandering around Luna as a newb, buying the odd thing and marvelling at the fountain. I like the way it looks, it's a cool looking sim. Very clean. And the only public Linden made sim on the grid. Is it still useful? Maybe not as much as it once was. But I still like it.

SPEND THE TIER ON IT???? I thought this was more like a free rent deal! If it's spending tier, then I need to withdraw from the lottery! coco

From: Cocoanut Koala SPEND THE TIER ON IT???? I thought this was more like a free rent deal! The 16sm kiosks, 32sm stands and 64sm walkins are rent free to the lottery winners; but you do have to claim the land against your tier. The six larger stores are auctioned so you pay for them in addition to supporting the tier. I paid around 7000L for a 240sm store in the last round of auctions.

About Middle Bottom of the information it states: From: someone All winners (auction and lottery) will receive a four-month lease during which they may sell their own items and those created by other Residents. Sales locations are counted in your land tier. Winners cannot sell their parcel.
Emphasis mine. Full Rules here: /3/ae/58872/1.html

Oh dear - well that makes a difference, particularly if you have no control over the size of the one you win. I have 512 still coming to me, for having bought only part of the land for the second level. And I have plans for it, so I'd better withdraw. coco

The city sims are not as hot as they used to be, so Luna, off in the corner, is not that hot these days. Now, back when it was adjacent to Bonifacio... that was different.

I'd like to see LL move Luna to just south of Rizal, where there's a void right now. It doens't make sense to hide it in the corner where it is now.

From: Ingrid Ingersoll Think of the trolley ride! I second this emotion! Some of the city owners are trying to breathe life back into it - and as Huns stated, perhaps it's part of the reason. I would like to think that some of the city owners are going to get some more foot traffic in the area....including the (again functioning) Linden built Trolley system.

I entered because, "Hey, you never know" ... and I do really like the Luna build. Im still pondering if I should enter the auction again. If I do, I need to come up with more items that are better suited to new players. And I agree with the comments about the trolley ... I like riding it, when I have time. And it doesn't derail.

There are ~180 entries this round compared to ~160 in May, 2005 so there must be some overwhelming appeal.

If you want more traffic for Luna, wait until there's like 30 people in the Island Sandbox and then CRASH IT! Hahaha... when they relog guess where they'll be sent to?
^ this is merely a joke. DON'T do it in SL, only in your imagination.
