Siggy.

Griefers and RL prisoners feed on and educate each other. So how about full SL rights to do whatever you want in prison, except each prisoner is on his own mini island and can't communicate with another soul?

It's been established through years of research that punishment alone doesn't work! I strongly suggest a rehabilitation aspect to SL prison. Good old cognitive change and social skills training to assist those SL inmates to increase pro-social attitudes ... thus increasing their long-term pro-social behavior once released. I can't figure out scripts, but I could develop an effective program for SL correctional facilities! Just let me know ...

Prison? Fines? Stripey suits? Stupidity. Grief=suspension or ban. Plenty good enough. Leave prison to the RPG's

Who said anything about replacing the current system of suspensions and bans with prisons etc? This is in addition to the ban. Once the criminal gets back into SL they serve their time.

And, by the way, us SexGirls, will gladly outfit the entire prison with our complete line of prison accessories and we will even give the Lindens a wholesale price discount!

A prison in a game that emphasizes the economic system? Why?

What katykiwi said.

Fine griefers. They lose their SL income and have to pay extra USD on any land owned for a specified amount of time. Not enough to make them quit, but enough to be...painful. Fine their prims and scripts. Etc.

And....

SL income collected from punishment is turned over the victims.

Not thought out. Just an idea.

Ultmately this wont work - as was shown in Superman III... you can banish them to the phantom zone and then some smart arse with the best of intentions will let fly with a rogue nuke - and whammo - they're all free and doing this 'Kneel before Zod' crap.

Then you lose your superpowers in a bad relationship descision, get beat up by truck drivers...

It's just generally a bad scene...

Siggy.

Yes! Yes! We can force them to turn out cheap clothing. Make them "telemarket" with name to key services for a small fee. The can stack up fines for them ohh say $1000L fines then pay them $2L an hour for their labors! Its a good deal for them afterall, the get a prim roof over their heads, pixelated clothing on their backs, and learn valueable skills, all the while repaying their debt to society. Excellent.

My company Hucci Inc would love the cheap labor for boxing clothing items! Where can I get a government contract?

Now we just need a biased justice system to go along with this and an immoral death penalty, ohh I mean permaban, and we are all set to play craptastic real world in SL.

Ohh Yay! Vitrual Jail.

P.S.

We can have virtual HIV infections from all the virtual prison gang rape! A new cottage industry an be born! Over priced, limited availablity prescription drugs, not to mention a budding black market. Excellent! Excellent!

A "punishment place" has been brought up many times before, in the LL office and on the forums. I think it would be a good idea if it could somehow help the offenders lose interest in their griefing metagames.

I'm not sure what the "feature set" would be that would be that would help make that happen. It seems to me that this hypothetical "prison" should be less interesting than the rest of SL, but not 100% useless. Certainly it should not interesting enough to encourage people to intentionally grief just to visit it.

Hmmm... perhaps a probation on bail system could be implemented, such that a premature return to "prison" would forfeit the bail. Dunno... more ideas?

Instead of talking about prisons, how about fix the log ins. This is getting out of hand now.

I HAVE A DREAM! Secondlife you take two seperate islands out at sea and on each Island Build a Maximum Security Prison..One Mens..One Womens..If you are suspended from SL, everytime you log on you are in a pennitentary where you CANNOT TP yourself out of. In prison there could be various things to do like learn to script which volunteers from the free world could teach...or whatever..the SL prison experience would be a way to stay in the game instead of waiting for your suspension to end..This could also be an end to banning in that instead of being banned you get a longer (much longer) sentence..The variables are too many to list.

Before you take my inventory take yours first, and everytime you get frusturated or angry while playing this game then do yourself a favor and hold down the "E" key. Then ask yourself what am I doing..and your answer will surely remind you that you are in a game. Answer: I am flying!! Exactly..now go take the trash out or sit under a tree and let this remain a game..Oh yeah...and wouldn't it be nice when you are playing tringo to shoot that one chick who never, EVER, stops dancing.

I think it is very fitting that a company based in San Francisico considered having an island prison.
