there are usually some beginner building and scripting classes held every week or so, just stay tuned (or check the events forum) for one of those, and make sure you're there. :)

Isn't there any tuturial on how to make things other then a cube? I can't find any and those in-game tut's are at 2am for me.

where the heck are you? even EST would translate to 11pm PST, and i seriously doubt a majority of the tutorials would be held at the "closing" time of the servers. you a limey or something? ;)

to create different-shaped objects, just choose the shape from in the boxes at the top of the edit menu. to create more complex objects (i.e. a house), it's just a matter of putting them together right. sure, there are some tips and techniques to making it to work out better, but once you've started, everything is quasi-intuitive :p

Im in GMT+1 (The Netherlands). Beta starts at 11 pm and ends at 8 am. I saw on those boards building classes are at 5 pm, wich is 2 am here. I mostly only get to play 1 hour, else I won't be able to wake up the next morning for school/work :(

ahhh... well maybe if you can hang around my bunker some time, and i'll show you some techniques... i usually try to get in as close to 2PST as possible on the weekends, but unfortunately, i almost never can guarantee when i'll be able to sign in :/

if you can find a way to slip in towards the end (8am your time), i'm usually on in the evenings, friday saturday and sunday (rest of the weekdays vary, sometimes i have to go out of town for work).

Hehe....WW2OL is an international game. We have players from 30+ different countries playing, and naturally they've now found this game. Lots of Aussies and Brits, a few French, and that dang Swede, Fredrich.

The hours SL is open for me are pretty sweet....11AM to 8PM, so the entire open time is "awake" time for me. If anyone wants to schedule a building class right at opening or closing times, let me know and I will be more than happy to play teacher. Just give me a day or so notice if you want an early time so I can shift my RL work schedule. BTW, I'm a builder, NOT a scripter, so if you need help with that, I'm not your girl.

As you have already seen, there is so much that can be done, it's a shame if you loose out on any of it.

So far no one's mentioned the Beta Reference documentation; I think it's very helpful.

From the SL website, pull down the Downloads menu and select Guides and Tutorials. There are PDFs there for the Beta Reference Guide, which describes all the options on the Tools palette, and a Beginner's Guide to Scripting, which offers an intro for non-programmers.

Can we please stop the talk about WW2OL?? If you like that game so much, please feel free to leave SL and play WW2OL! And why would you all group up into a WW2OL group? What has WW2OL todo with SL, besides that's also a online game???
This is NOT a war game. If you like to play war (if you are that immature) please go play a war game.

Mark, I have been playing this “game” for almost 5 months, and NEVER have I seen the Lindens jump through the hoops they did to accommodate the WWII crowd. One of the best features of SL is it can be ANYTHING we want it to be., and right now, part of it’s a war game. The world is large enough that if you don’t like the war game aspect, stay away from it. I don’t like war games or violent games, but I welcome these guys, because they will ultimately improve SL for all of us.

Thank you, Tracey.

It seems immature and elitist to me to tell a bunch of people what this game should be and what it should not be. If you dont like the way SL has changed because of the WW2OLers, guess what? You are free to take a hike.

To answer your questions: because we feel like it and because we can.

We're here. You are free to get used to it. You are free to get lost. Your choice.

Fine but leave the name WW2OL out of it, it has nothing to do with SL It's the name of ANOTHER game!
Just name it: "We like to replay the war where miljons of innocent were killed just because they were born diffrent"

Personally i haven't seen all that much change, but perhaps thats because i'm a bit of a hermit on top of my lil mountain (or rather big hill). But one thing i have noticed is all the new guys dropping by to say hi. All of them have been kind and polite and have actually told me not to worry or to be intimidated by them in any way.

At the begninning i was curious to see what was gonna happen with such a huge influx of people coming in (specially from one game). But you know, i think its just made it a bit more interesting :)

Welcome all of you!!! And keep dropping by!

:) :)

Why would you call your group the same as the name of another game??? doesn't that mean that you like that game more and why would you play SL if you like that game so much... oh wait... probably because you can't afford WW2OL anymore and this game is FREE (LAME :P) Well guess what this game won't be free forever :D
No actually I'm just kidding, call you group whatever you like but one thing that is VERY lame was that box I've encounterd that was SHOUTING every second something like: "LEAVE THIS GAME NOW, COME PLAY WW2OL..."
What the hell are you thinking when you put up something like THAT?
I'm not going to play any other online game telling everybody to come play SL... that's just not right..
I'm not saying they should forbid something like that (it's a free world after all) but I don't think the people who play SL will have to put up with EVERYTHING they see.
At least let me complain about it in the forums like i'm doing now.

i've got a sneaking suspicion you did something to piss them off. i have heard talk about you being a "marked" av. even when there was a supposed war between the WWIIOLers and the Noise Tanks, no one ever mentioned any specific person to kill.

i'm not trying to insult, belittle, or threaten you. all i'm saying is to watch what you do around new people, especially those who have come from a different online game. their customs and etiquette may be different from yours, and something you take for granted may offend them. i'm not saying either you or they are right, i'm just saying, be mindful of it :)

Mark, we are in no way attempting to take anyone away from SL in any shape or form. I've not made a single statement to anyone trying to get anyone away from SL & "over to" WWIIO. I made one statement describing it to this group as a whole, but that's IT.

Over 70 of us came here from there in a single day, and it certainly got a lot of attention, I think you'd agree. People are forever coming over to our little corner of the outlands to check us out, and I think they all leave impressed with our teamwork.

Au contraire--- we post about SL on our forums how much we are enjoying the concept, and bear-in-mind, there are thousands of very like-minded individuals there. You can't buy that kind of advertising.

WWIIO is our community, and we already are one of the, if not THE largest group in Beta right now. We're pretty proud of our "background", and makes us that stronger of a community.

Pretty weird some people don't like it that a group from another game come over to play. If my friends from AO came over and we made a big group would we also get all those complaints too? Offcourse, some people are just plain stupid, but thats how they are, no mather if they from WWIIO or from somewhere else. Respect each other as they are. SL is a game where you make your own world. If they want to create a world of war, let them. Just go to the other side of the world and create your own place there. If you don't like people, ignore em.
