Hi everyone,

We are working on the press release for next week's E3 conference (which will include a bunch of big SL news), and want to feature you all as prominently as possible.

One way we'd like to do this is to include a quote from one of you that shows off SL and our collective commitment to it. I'd like to invite those who would like to be quoted to reply to this thread with ideas. So something like:

"Oh Boy in SL you can do anything, like my hidden underwater cave and actual working sharks" - Philip Linden.

Well anyway that's the idea, but I suspect you can come up with things that are much better ;)

Bear in mind we'll only have room to put in one quote, and might not use anything we see on the thread, but please if you are interested send us some ideas!

Thanks,

CEO Philip

Second Life is like a piece of clay, yours to yours to shape and mold into anything you want, and then make it fly!

In 5 months I built a wizards staff, a wizards tower, 2 homes, an island, an Arcade and Casino, arcade and gambling games, a Church with a grave yard and the common room of an Inn. I have destroyed the tower and the homes, and moved the Arcade. I have joined 2 city communities, an 1800's haunted village community, and created a community of my own. I have met hundreds of people from all over the world and won lotteries. I have taken classes and taught classes, been to townhall meetings, house warming parties, lottery drawings, trivia competitions, sports games, and game shows. And I've only started.

"Alot of games get a bad rap with people saying that that guns are being used in real life bacause of the game, well I find myself looking at real life to influence what I build in Second Life" .....hmmm how many primes would it take to build this in SL? :-)

SL is the closest thing to a full reality experience game, next to being plugged in to a matrix style interface."

Second Life challenges all accepted boundaries of interactive online gaming; it offers so much to so many. The reclusive bohemian works a new piece of art in a mountain retreat, the social butterfly hits the raves in their latest nightwear, the wolfpack wargamer leads a squad into the bush to test a new defense grid. Lead or follow, build or explore, work or play; Second Life takes the game "out of the box" and puts it where it belongs...in your hands.

and/or

Other games cling like shrink wrap once you get used to the creative freedom of Second Life. I can breathe!

Have you ever thought, "Well, if it was up to me I would've done it this way or that way." Two words: Second Life.

Vonnegut wrote "We are what we pretend to be..." and nowhere is that more true than in Second Life.

In here, the faces we put on for the world become reality, and how we interact shows our selves. As in real life (RL) we are still judged somewhat on appearence, but that form is what we choose to make it. Age, income, sex, race, even species are what we choose to be, and it is on those terms that we are defined.

I entered not knowing what to expect and my first questions (which I've since heard repeated by several others) were: how do I play? What do we do?

Answer: Nearly anything. Want a frag-fest with a variety of traditional and exotic weapons? Head for the outlands, suit up and slay. Want to play a few simple card or casino games? There are plenty to choose from. Want to explore a clothing-optional lifestyle? There are places for that. Want to shop? Clothing and furnishing stores abound. Want to invent things that work as you imagine? Do it.

What SL excels at is social interaction. More than chat rooms, it is a place to meet people and kick around in fantastic settings. In a week, I've made a variety of friends including a demoness that lives in a sylishly-furnished crypt, a fairy who lives in a hollow tree, and an eccentric inventor who lives in a mansion complete with private shark-infested beach. I'm going with an angelic thing myself, and am fashioning a cathedral-like home in the clouds.

If you want it, buy it or build it. The resources are there, the laws of physics can be bent, people always seem willing to help, and you can be as creative as you've dreamed. If you can't find it, you can build it or just wait a week and see if someone else does.

In short, this is an alternate reality you can play in, much less restrictive than the structure of MMORPGs. They are all, to some extent, fantasy given form; but here it is YOUR fantasy that can be implemented.

Just living in this world for a time is a pleasure and a wonder.

"I have seen chairs and stadium seats appear out of nowhere just by a single command, hot-air balloons, trap doors invisible to the naked eye, police-training style target practices... a small Japanese town just a bit away from a city crafted in the stylings of William Gibson's visions; virtual recreations of national monuments and giant statues of angels and goddesses... all in a world that you can fly like a superhero and quite possibly come the closest to having the power of a god or goddess, shaping portions of this world to your own tastes... and not after reaching a certain level, but having the tools available to you immediately".

"Tonight I'm gonna ride a gondola through the streets of Venice. Fly a hot air balloon to Japan for tea. Create my own MMORPG in a cyberpunk city. Then I'll decide what to do tomorrow. You can't imagine it until you experience it, but it's real, it's here, and it's now. Come join us!"
