Well, after hearing wind of our new arrivals, I sure got a pleasant surprise when I appeared in Second Life this evening!

Let me say WELCOME to all the new players! The sheer numbers I've seen are mind-boggling. There's going to be some growing pains and culture shock all around for the next few days, but I think it'll all work out in the end.

My Outlands center, X-Caliber, has been landmarked by a LOT of the new players, and I'm glad to see my stuff being put to such good use. Most people are obviously purchasing guns, but others were also buying swords, lightsabres, and costumes as well!

Well, I certainly appreciate the attention, and I'm making sure I don't slack off as a result! Tonight, I created three new items: A pump shotgun (with great kickback), a sniper rifle, and a backpack that dispenses landmines (yes, with a practically infinite supply). I also imported four different camoflague textures for your uniform needs, be it desert, jungle, urban, or even arctic!

As always, I do custom work of near any type. Several players have already suggested new weapons, and I'll get to work on those as soon as possible. Something to keep in mind: I also do tattoos if you're looking for that special arm patch! Facial camo makeup is also available on request...

Most of all, I hope everyone gets a chance to check out The Pit, a team-based combat arena set up in X-Caliber's basement. It's currently set up for one-flag CTF matches in a two-fort style. I've been talking to members of the groups, offering The Pit for rent (saving you the land costs) so you can construct your own training ground.

Is this a shameless plug? Probably. But when dozens of people stop by my place, I feel the least I can do is say hello, and come back again soon!

For those of you who haven't stopped by yet, X-Caliber is located in Clyde, right next to the Outlands. Just take your Outlands Gate teleport, and head straight north. Look for the maroon steel building.

See you all in-world!

Thanks for the welcome!

It looks like the SecondLife Arms Dealership industry is about to take off :)

I'm terribly new so this whole idea of creating your own weapons just blows my mind .... I can't grasp how they maintain balance in the gameworld if the players are allowed to build anything they want!

I mean, what is to stop me from building some kind of automatic death machine that kills everyone instantly and then sell 1000's of copies to everyone in the game for only $100?

Its a game that has had most of their players quickly shift over to playing SL.

A variety of in game mechanisms easily stop that sort of thing. You can't hurt anybody not in the outlands unless they allow you to, and people in the outlands just need to be diligent about setting their script and build options, and implementing some basic defense shields around their property. If the nuke lands in a place where no outside scripts are set...you can't rez bullets or throw debri.

I haven't met any of you wwiiolers yet, but i'd also like to say welcome. you're definitely adding an element to this game that we haven't seen yet, and i think its good. now the outlands is really gonna be what it sounds like. and for everyone complaining about getting shot while out there, try telling shaq not to dunk on people because its not nice. :p it's a part of the game and you've all known this so deal with it. when i get a chance i'll be going out there to test my skills against ya. ;)

again, welcome to SL guys.

Rygar, I am completely ashamed of that response.

You consider these guys disruptive, stupid newbie players who barged into your territory, brought out a bunch of items that annoyed you and killed the server, who actively recruited in as large of numbers as possible, and are "just trying to stake their space in Second Life"?

PEOPLE SAID ***EXACTLY*** THAT ABOUT YOU AND YOUR GROUP TWO WEEKS AGO!!!

I have nothing more to say about that.

Rygar, there is always a bit of chaos for all when new players come into a community. I will say that the wwiionline folks in general are the older and more mature bunch of wargammers as it is a simulation game rather than a fast-paced FPS. That being said, any organization of size has their bad eggs. Once the newness wears off, the chaos will become less chaotic :)

The chaos will become controlled. organized, and well led chaos. Hopefully led by Panzers.

Who's working on that anyway?

The WWIIO community is, by FAR, the nicest, most knowledgeable group of gaming buddies I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with.

I bought that game the very first day it came out, and have watched it grow & mature. I've played it non-stop for going on two years, and there's no end in sight for me.

The game map is of Western Europe and England, and the map is half-scale, meaning yes, it's Europe, half-scale. Combined arms-- infantry, land, air, and sea. The vehicles can only be killed using tactics employed by the real participants in the war. Not hit points. Think about how powerful your gun is and thickness of armor in millimeters.

It's the most intoxicating gaming experience I've EVER had, barring none, and continues to be.

Now, I'm not here to disrupt your game, and thanks very much for the welcome. :D I can say, with absolute certainty, that there are at least 70 of us who joined in a single day. We're still posting about it in our forums. :)

You can't buy that kind of advertising.

X-Caliber rocks!! Thanks for the welcome. I bought my first gun from your store, its a nice little Desert Eagle. I think you will all find that us WW2OLers are, for the most part, very respectful of others and just here to explore and have fun like the rest of you.

Heh. If you consider us people who should be banned b/c we don't play YOUR style of game RYGAR, then your in for a BIG BIG BIG surprise when this game goes live and Beta is over.

But for everyone ELSE in this thread, thank you very much.

I would just like to state that I am a CO-leader of the noise tanks and i do not share this...bigotry and hipocracy that Rygar seems to have devloped out of thin air.

(P.S. As his RL friend i'll be shure to smack him when i see him ;))

Thank you for the warm welcome. I like the sign on your shop :)

For a custom gun, do you think you could make one of these:

Lee-Enfield No. 4 Rifle Mark I

The reliable Lee-Enfield No.4 employed many improvements over the rifles of World War I. New sights allowed novices to master it quickly, and it's firing mechanism allowed soldiers to fire as many as 40 aimed shots per minute.

Caliber/cartridge 0.303 in (7.7 mm)
Weight 9 lb 1 oz (4.14 kg)
Length 44.43 in (1.129 m)

thanks for the welcome :-)

bought me a shiny new mini gun and sword the other day at your awesome weapons store, and you can bet ill be back for more when ive got some more cash .

and zeddicus, once were settled in and such maybe we can organise some skirmishes between the wwIIolers and the noise tanks.

the fact that weve got 2 large groups in game now means that with the proper tools in place we can have our selves some good fights.

Beav007 here!

Beav007 Checking in from WWIIOL, lock'n'load!

If you allies get a enfield I want an MP-40 =).

MP-40

Maschinen Pistole 38/40

The MP38/40 weapon was selected by German High Command because it supported their tactical goal of fast infantry with automatic firepower. It offered the shooter accurate and stable fire, even after prolonged bursts.

Caliber/cartridge 7.92 mm (0.312 in)
Weight 3.9 kg (8.6 lb) unloaded
Length 1.1075 m (43.60 in)
Effective Range 800 m (875 yd)

If that helps with the wonderful arms dealers you know who to thank. :D
