Any reason why some of us are able to get in and others are looking at the "waiting for response" screen? Is it pure luck? Persistance? Since the Server Slam, I've gotten mixed results. This morning I got online the first time I tried- I'm thinking: wow! They solved this thing! This afternoon I tried to break in and it's been an hour and a half and I'm still waiting. Not that it's the end of the world, but I'm curious....

It is easier to get in during non-peak hours so traffic has something to do with it. Also I've seen others take only 20 mins while another took over 5 hours continuously! I wish I knew, I'm on hour 3!!!

Hour 5 here. Got in this morning with no problem though but was still sleepy and went back to bed. Should have just left my avie sitting there but I was trying to do the responsible thing. Hmmm wonder if I'll do that again?

I have finally made it in after repeatidly trying consistantly since 10am this morning PST. I do let the server time me out though and never hit the quit button not back out.

To clarify, when I refered to "hitting the quit button" I should have explained I meant when I was inworld and ready to log off- as the last view on the moniter is saved and becomes the background screen for the next login.

a few minutes

Is anyone besides me bothered by pathfinder linden's post that says it may take 'a few minutes' to log on? Somebody is way out of touch.

Everyone should stop trying ...
05-15-2005 15:09
Until i get to log in .. then you can resume
^^ =pPppP
----------------
I got in on 2nd try this morning at 8 am, crashed at 9am, got partway (not really there) at 12:30 .. since then over 3 hours trying.
I guessing you lose all priority to get on once it times out? So really is like the lottery?
I like waitign in line at the super market and the Cashier just locks her drawer and walks away, so you fight with everyone else to get in the next line, and THAT cashier does the same thing.

When do I get my plaque and when do I learn the secret handshake? haha Seriously, logging in has been a hassle, but persistence has paid off. I just keep re-logging until it finally works. That says nothing, however, about getting booted as soon as I try to fly more than a few meters or if I click on a scripted object or teleport anywhere.

Somebody else said in another thread they were conscientious about cleaning their inventory regularly, and they were able to log on.
I, too, have been able to log on, after say 3-6 tries, of like, up to 10-minute waits each time.
And I, too, have a carefully-kept inventory, of over 8,000 items, but with basically no duplicates, and with all the items organized into some 50 or so folders, most of which have sub-folders.
Maybe this makes it easier to get logged on. Maybe the system likes folders and sub-folders more than just huge long lists of things.

My inventory is a disaster area, and last night I was able to log in on the first try in mere seconds, like there weren't any problems at all. I think its a lot more luck of the draw and how busy it is.

coco I haven't actually checked to determine my actual inventory count, but I'm sure it's pretty massive (mostly my own creations). However, I routinely clean up inventory and delete stuff just for sanity sake. That may be why I'm having more success than others logging in. Another luv fest about Pathfinder: He sincerely compliments forum posters who attempt to keep things civil.

I have been in several times today. However, it was easy to get in during non peak times, such as 2:30am, 6:00am EST. The other couple of times took alot of tries.
