Apologies in advance to those who read this. It had to be written, and you I'm inflicting it on you in revenge.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome all, and have a seat, and listen to me now,
For a little story, I will weave, a tall-tale if you allow.

I offer up, now, these two lands, their lords so great and bold,
Who care not for each other, who they treated oh so cold.

LordOne did come up unto me, and my skills did want hire,
He offered gold for my good skills, and such he did acquire.

I spoke of builds I had done past, and and considered serving him,
I never saw the drama coming, and took it on a whim.

We traveled to his vast estates, and looked at the bare ground,
"Oh can you make me a good keep, to keep me safe and sound?"

"A keep you say?" I asked of him, "A keep, Fool, if you can",
"A keep it is, Oh Great LordOne, and by your great command."

And so I went and built this keep, and with haste did I work,
For a Fool is paid when a Fool is done, with not a starting perk.

I worked on into night's dark call, and worked into the day,
And where the bare earth once did sit, a keep now did hold sway.

And so a lass came unto me, and told me of a plight,
Her LordTwo was unhappy: The keep did block his sight.

I looked at it and was aware, it's size it did impose,
But honor says I build for him, whatever he had chose.

I spoke at length with this fair lass, and solution found we none,
I tried to finish my grand keep, and make it look quite fun.

I added color, for before, it was a drab unpainted thing,
But it was not enough, and soon a story, that fair lass did bring.

"Improved it is, oh fine good Fool, but still it blocks the way,
And LordOne has told LordTwo that this way it shall now stay."

I pondered this, and called for friends, to help me think this through,
But while they praised my latest build, no answers did accrue.

I put my back into the build, to finish quick and well,
This build had turned from such great fun, into a living hell.

LordTwo did cry, "I will now leave, such insult is too much!",
And offered up his lands to serfs, to make their lots less tough.

The Fool did shake his head so tired, "Is it far too much?",
"For them to stop this silliness, and have neighbors act as such?"

The build was done, and LordOne crowed, "A keep it is, indeed!",
"And now I will take it as my own, and you shall now be fee'ed".

But when he touched the handled door, the keep it did quite fade,
And I, the Fool, was sitting there, and had never been paid.

It seem the land was magic, see? The keep it did return,
To mine own pocket, brick-by-brick, and my! Did LordOne burn.

"Damn the land!" Said LordOne loud, as he did leave as well,
And now the land was bare once more, and even set to sell.

And so two lords, did fall from grace. Neither lord had won.
But as you see, I'm still here, my story is now done.

And if my build, it did offend, please try to now remember:
The prims all went their separate ways, and my build it did dismember.

Not complaining, but how was it off-topic?

being poetry deficient I am amazed that you could make it all rhyme.

MY my! what a great way to present this story. IT really brought a BIG smile to my face. Really, nicely done Frost. Very elegant. I will save this on my PC so I can read it again and again. I think all who were involved in this deserved the lesson your poem teaches us. I for one will study it hard and learn from it.

I don't understand why Linden move this to off topic... This is about a situation that happened in SL. I thought th OFF-Topic forum was for non-SL related... I'm confused now... another reason for quitting SL.

Back to the original thread in announcements....

Thank you Frost, may you live long and prosper. You are among the best few in my book.

At a glance, I could see where someone would not know it was a poem *about* situation(s) in SL. Jeska probably read the first few lines and just thought it was a random poem. It happens. :(

Oh my. What a tale. I'm sorry LordTwo is leaving SL (though with other reasons, apparently), and LordOne apparently got what he deserved, lol.

But for a poor fool to have gone to so much work to have it all returned brick by brick! Now, THAT'S a lousy day!

As for being moved to off-topic, so was my old-thymey story about the Linden bridge. As far as I can tell, if you make your post in poetry or in a kind of fairy-tale form, it gets moved, regardlessof how truthful or on-topic it is. I don't think they like poetry or tales.

Hmmm.

Foolish Frost tells a woeful tale, for work that went unpaid.
Sounds like he got no kiss, no vasseline, but still he did get laid.

If one good thing may come of this, I hope its a lesson learned.
Never start a build without deposit or else you will get burned.

Your poem-beat seemed off.

Try this:

Foolish tells a woeful tale, for work that went unpaid,
Sounds like he did do without, but still did he get laid.

If one good thing did come of this, I hope its lesson learned,
Try to start with half your fee, or else you may get burned.

Sorry. The beat seems to be one of my personal twitches. Has to flow...

Anyway, this point has been made, much to the sadness of my clients. This one just cost any others I might take 1/2 up front.
