Sooo, Lindens, when are you going to let us know what's going on? Some crazy rumors running around, but mostly pointing to something big happening with SL.
Anyone care to shed some light on things?

Rumor has it that a few select people were informed about some upcoming 'big changes', and they were forced to sign an NDA before being able to hear the info. It's best we leave this topic alone until the Lindens decide it's time to tell us.

okayyy.....I've decided to let everyone know the truth. Here it is:
Oprah is buying SL. Hippos will be re-named Harpos. A new sim, named, Oprah, will house a theater so the SL audience can be present during RL show tapings. Dr. Phil will be hosting nightly secondlife coaching sessions. Prim limits will be removed so that we can be all we can be. Our first slick "Oprah's SL" magazine will arrive in January. A Maya Angelou av will host weekly poetry readings. wait..... just kidding.... the REAL truth is that the Osbournes are buying SL and the age restrictions will be immediately removed and the Governor's mansion will be renamed Ozzie's Place and language restrictions in PG sims will no longer be enforced and..... no, really.... What's REALLY about to happen is that Home Depot is buying SL and there will be two new sims that will house an amazing display of prims and textures and templates. Helpful AVs will roam these sims and help you find the exact prim or particle you need for your build. For a small extra fee, they'll deliver the item, already assembled, to your land...... no....wait....i have *another* idea.... alright....I'll quit. |

yeah well i've been beta testing uru for six months but i can't talk about that either...
and my father is the real santa claus not that fake one in the mall... and the new havoc engine will produce tornados that randomly wreck builds and fling avs into the sandbox so we better start flying upside down to keep an eye on those clouds... and i'm worried about tax day because i still don't understand all the ins and outs of stipends and bonuses so they might as well change it. i won't know the difference. |

I thought NDA's were only used for games in beta, it would make no sense to have one for something that is already public. How would other people be able to subscribe to SL without knowing anything about it?

Well, NDA's aren't just for betas, they can be used for anything that a company wants to show someone, but doesn't want them talking about. NDA stands for Non-Disclosure agreement, and it is basically a contract stating that you are given access or told some information for any reason, and if you talk about it to someone your not supposed to, such as the media, you friends, the hobo on the corner, that company reserves the right to do whatever they specifiy in the contract, usually consisting of suing that person for damages.

Yeah, i've heard Many rumors, some concerning HIPPO's, and some concerning the supposed "BIG" changes, but nothing that I really wanna say because I don't want to spread those rumors anymore. But, from the sounds of it, an NDA means something major is underway and they want feedback from a select few.

Let's bear in mind that we're currently in 1.1.9.... logically the next release should (by the numbers) be 1.2.... and 'big changes' have always been scheduled for that... (or so I'd been given the impression.)
