I'm here to talk about SL. If you want to get into your little interpersonal disputes with Coco or whoever, feel free to take it in world.

But I really have 0 desire to get involved to read your petty little disputes with people.

For that matter, if you have something you'd like to say to me.. Feel free to do it in world as well. These forums are not a place to address individuals directly.

I agree. It's fun once in a while but all the time is bothersome. Even if participating in discussions is no longer interesting, try to resist playing with the forum for fun and attention. Use moderation, grasshopper.

Just a General question about TOS and forum tactics. If somebody wanted to bury one or more current threads by bumping a few dozen old threads (pushing the current conversation off the front page). Would that be against CS? Is this a practice the Lindens are OK with?

Yes, they have stated they have no problem with bumping old threads.

Most likely because they are tired of interpersonal whining as much as I am.

The easy solution would be to lock any thread which is more than 3 months old without new posts. Probably could do that with a single moderately complex SQL query on a cron job.

You talking about getting people riled up is quite simply rich, Blaze. You post in the contrary all the time just to incite people, and push whatever buttons you can. You are the original shit stirrer in these forums. When Prokofy was here, you would constantly jump on the bandwagon with him. It stops when not every single thread is about how wronged poor Coco is, how evil the rest of us/Lindens are, where everything is not some fucking conspiracy theory of favoritism and sucking off the Lindens. The moment those posts stop, it stops. It stopped the second Prokofy left until Cocoanut picked up the torch and moved right in.

Besides, there are some really interesting threads from a long time ago. Why not bump them? I find it interesting to delve historically into SL.

This mod for vBulletin will do it. It uses vBulletin's own vCron module, which presumably just talks to cron.

Wow Blaze I am impressed. We haven't seen a forum turn in personalities like this since Anshe turned nice after using the n word. This is really astonishing. Just a few short weeks ago you were shit stirring and whining to your hearts content about IP address, FIC and the injustices of the world, despite the fact Trimda handed your ass to you on a platter about IP addresses, you continued. Now, wow, now you are all about peace and harmony and bumping old threads in an effort to cleanse the board of the dirty taint of whining that you feel exists.

Sometimes it's fun or useful to bump an old thread. I'd hate to have one very very mischievous and bad (did I mention bad?) player ruin it for all of us.

Yes, exactly. You only see what you want to see.

Though I do dislike the practice of censorship/obscuring-by-bump that seems to be occuring here, I do feel that bumping is useful for certain forums, namely the feature suggestions forum - if a person wants to contribute to the discussion of a particular feature mentioned in a prior suggestion, then the preffered option (IMO) would be to bump the old thread with their new opinion.
