People piss me off

First you can do more. Like say CLEAN, what is the old saying? Time to lean time to clean. If some one ask for your help then you say, sorry I am only allowed to do XXXXX and I can’t help you, but if you go over there person XXXXX can help you. Then people will feel you are doing what you can.

About taking any job, well seeing I lost my full time job in 2003 and for a year I was unemployed and when I got a job it was a temp job that I spent about 75% with out things to do, I stepped up and did more then what I was asked to do. I took the project that was slated for 6 months and got it done in 3 because I did more. Because of this I lost my Job but the Temp agency got me a new one so fast I had no time off. I am now working that job. I work high end Eng programs that has me allot of down time. I try and only spend 5% of my down time doing none work stuff. I have been here for a long time but have helped move 90% of our Paper stuff to PDF and cleaned out 5 large cabinets. I have done more but that is not the point. Point is you don’t know me. I am only 32 so I am just out of my 20s (Ok really just 31 July 6th I will be 32). I know what it is to have no money. I have $6 and change to get to payday this week (Payday is Wednesday). I am making $200 a WEEK less now then my last full time job. I do what I have to feed my family. Maybe Stepping up and cleaning or something would give you a raise and make things better for you.

I'm gonna stop by the firestation and look in the window. If any of those leaches are sitting down, reading the paper or watching t.v., I'm gonna bang on the window and yell something about "not working." That'll show 'em!

It wasn't that she was looking for sympathy, it was a rant..not sympathy. Sympathy is given in the threads of "I am leaving" blah blah blah.

Why not ask them why they get paid so much for being so dramatic about things like this instead of going after the big guns like they are getting paid BIG bucks to do. Have you ever seen the reprocussions of this? Its not the head honcho that gets fired, its the little guy doing. Yeah, real upstanding of ya to put someone else on unemployment. Oh wait maybe they can come into that office and bitch about the next person that isn't given work to do either.

Ok, if your public company isn't making enough money because they have to put out so much in labor costs *gasps, the horror*, then who do they try to recoupe that back from? THE CONSUMER. So that means they INFLATE prices for us so that they can cover your salary. So in essence, if I buy their product or service, I am paying for you to post on the forums.




She said the office was not busy. If there was a line, I am sure she would be helping them.

The point is, now after seeing her post, she is a single mom trying to complete her degree so she can have a better job. Wouldn't it be better to realize that there are other things going on with someone than what is overly obvious?

How do the "not working" comentators know that you're not on a break? Or that your job is to respond to events (requests, assignments, phone calls) as oppossed to creating events?

Even if it's true that your job offers a ton of downtime, I'd say the problem lies with whomever created the job, not with you. If I create an inefficiant job, say, hiring "Fred" to sit on a flagpole all day, I'm the one who's efficiency should be questioned, even though Fred will get probably get most of the greif.

Good point. The purpose of a receptionist is to be available at her desk when the phone rings or somebody comes in. If the receptionist is off messing with the file cabinets or is neck deep in accounting work, she's really not doing her job.

If you've asked if there is anything else to be done and the answer is 'no', you've fulfilled all your responsibilities as an employee. At that point your salary is "opportunity cost" for the company: they're giving you money for the option of putting you to work, even if they don't currently have any work for you to do. Lawyers call it being on retainer.

BTW, if you put a hardcover romance in a jacket that reads, "Principles of Subatomic Physics", fewer people give you a hard time. They're intimidated

They go after the Big guys and the little guys. Chicago News has pulled down the top of Chicago Government Machine to the Little guys. They go after them all. The problem is the little guys do it out in the open so every one can see. Some times by going after the little guy it leads you to bigger fish. I would think any of the people on unemployment would love to get her job and I would bet about 50% of them would be more in that job then her. If she is doing a good just job then it’s not a problem. If she is not doing any thing wrong then they would not have a problem would they?


I don’t take normal brakes. I told you I am stuck and can’t do no more and will spend 5% of that time posting here. Seeing I work on average 10 and 1/2 a day and only get paid for 8 (I am a hr worker) I would not really judge what I am doing.


If we want to go there I should get paid more but I take it upon my self to work more and don’t ask for me. I also work in Engineering our cost is not a straight cost, but you can say that. Again you as a customer would owe me not the other way around. My last full time job I came in on my Vacation to work and never got my time back. I worked Nights because I had no babysitter because they already had plains.



No no go back and read that. She works for one part of Unemployment. The people who are saying things are in for the other part of Unemployment that shares the office with her. So no she id not helping them.
