Are You Getting Any From the Lindens?

Linden Collector Cards & Teddy Bears....that is.

Is the purpose of the Linden collector card and teddy bear program to encourage interaction between the masses and the Lindens? I think it is and it is a fun idea...in theory.

We were told that cards can be obtained from dispensers placed at various locations in world, and directly by IMing the Lindens themselves. Teddy Bears are to be given directly by the Lindens when you ask for one. But, did anyone tell the Lindens we were asked to IM them for a card or bear?

Some Lindens reply with their usual friendly reaction to being IMd even when they are busy. Sadly, most have not even bothered to reply to my IM. Some say later when they are not busy and then I dont hear from them. I was told by one Linden that he did not have a card and heard they could be obtained somewhere in world. He did not know where.

Whose idea was the card and bear program I wonder, and why ask us to IM the group of "too busy to interrupt Lindens" to get their card or bear when they dont seem to even want to say hello.

If the Lindens are too busy working then please do not ask members to IM them to ask for a card or a bear!

One Linden told me the only way to get some of the cards is to ask the Linden whose card you need. He said to me "Ask Philip for his card, he won't bite."

I did, twice.

I am not going to ask anymore. I love SL and wanted to participate, but asking and being ignored just makes me feel like a pest.

I picked up a few cards and even got a few of my favorites but I noticed that they placed their dispensors not just on their own properties but FIC-certified properties and that annoyed me no end so I stopped collecting.

Yes, I'll be starting my own FIC card collection soon, similar to my deck of cards of the ebil in TSO. I am working with graphic artists and scriptors as we speak. Act quickly to get your name in the list of FIC cards, or pay me huge sums of money to have your name taken OFF the list muahahahha. Volunteers for dispensors of FIC-certified cards on your property should IM me in game.

I'll let you put one on my land in Bolinas, Prokofy- on the condition that I get to be a premium-holofoil card

There is a card dispensor in the temporary WA in Waterhead. Can't miss it.

And yes, I have a card and a bear. Just ask me for them. I think I've given away a couple dozen already.

Note: Please avoid using the Linden Collectable Cards like Pokemon Cards. I've already had one resident get my card and "summon" me in a battle against a Squirtle Linden. Since I am an "earth" Linden, I lost miserably. Thank you in advance.

Thanks for expressing your feelings, sometimes I feel your frustration, and there are certain Lindens (GRRR! ) who I haven't gotten cards or bears from yet. I'll nudge again later in the spacetime continuum. Really, with the 1.6 rollout and the new continent and all, they've had their hands full. Legs too. And heads? Balancing, spinning plates. I know this because I asked some Lindens this very question, and they explicitly explained how busy they are. Literally, without the "spinning plates" part tho.

Nicole, who I believe came up with the cards & bears and got help from fellow Lindens (since they are a fam and all...), is a Liaison in addition to TPing around refilling dispensers. That's gotta stack up her hours.

So, sometimes it may seem maddening, but heck, I don't want to use a cliche, but now I do, so here goes: it's a step in the right direction (perhaps something Pathfinder's name alludes to), and I think like with so many things in this world, a gentle persistence is what gets through over the long-term.

And, when one tunnel is blocked by a giant boulder (like you once gave me a tour of on your fun island!), look for alternate routes. It's a creative world after all.

Whose dumb idea was that? You mean when I am IMing Lindens because I am stuck at the center of the earth or nothing in my inventory will rezz they can't help me because they are busy fishing through their inventory for a Teddy Bear! Well that explains why I still can't rezz half the crap in my inventory and no one has gotten back to me...

Well, I now have a mini Pathfinder sitting on my desk in Meins. I Suppose if I get another few of the miniLindens, I'll have to pull out that displayuunit I built but never finished...

Ha! Apparently I can take the "Squirtle" -- which really doesn't sound that impresive I know, since it sounds like a combination of "Squirt" and "Turtle" - but who knows?!

Oh, Squirtle Linden is one tough cookie, don't let the name fool you! I still have nighmares over that one day near Rausch...

Sadly, I know. That's exactly what it is! But... Do Linden's evolve? We don't have to worry as long as I can train you quickly before Squirtle becomes Wartortle becomes Blastoise. Then we've got problems!

We have a strict triaging procedure, sorted by level of importance.

1) Help residents deal with critical bugs and land issues
2) Help residents deal with griefers
3) Listen to residents to learn their ideas on ways to improve SL
4) Be friendly and chatty and distrubute bears/collectable cards

Hello All,

Yes this is a pet project that I have been working on. I actually thought it was a good one and to help with the relationships between residents and Lindens.

Most have Collector Cards and I can say that I am adding more to the vendors as I get more out, which I have said would happen.
The teddy bears was something I thought would also be fun. I have only done about 15 so far, so you do have to give me time on those. For the record, yes there is a Philip Bear.

I do want to work on a special edition of collector cards with action shots, but Lindens move so fast it is hard to get the camera to focus correctly before taking the picture.
Yes I do reset the vendors daily, which means teleporting to about 15 different locations each day.

The reason I created the collector cards and teddy bears was because I noticed there was a distance between the residents and the Lindens. Creating these would give people a reason to IM or even chat with a Linden. Yes we do get busy at times. But most are honoured to be asked if they can pass on a collector card or teddy.

If you want a vendor of collector cards in your area, all you need to do is IM me. If I am not online I will get back to you as soon as I do get in world. The more vendors out there the more chance of getting more rare ones out, and I still have a few up my sleeve.
