Come to the Photography Studio in Grignano and either see an exhibit of original works done by SL residents or make a snapshot yourself. It's fun and creative and you can enter the contest (approx. one every 10 days or so) or just make something for yourself. When the backdrops are up for a contest you can come and use them any time of the day or night. Across the hall is Grignano books, which features original books - we had to start somewhere so right now they are funny short romance novels, illustrated by avatar snapshots. We have had one author reading, and hope to have more goofy events. In the bookshop there is a link to the Metaverse Messenger, and we are poised to sell an original real, full-length book - as soon as the author and I can meet to set up the display. There are lots of things happening in SL but I find there's a problem getting the word out. Events filtration would help, as might another category that includes ongoing things and not just short events.

A population gets the culture it deserves. Looks like a vast amount of our population is interested in BIGGEST HOOTERS contests.

Whaddya gonna do?

I'm with Crystalshard on this, though. If something is lacking in Second Life, and you notice it, it's time for you to get to work. I've seen private individuals attempting works like art galleries and the like. Get out and create the world you want -- no one else can do it for you.

Also, I fail to see how going back to giving away money to BIGGEST HOOTERS contests will do anything except double or triple the number of BIGGEST HOOTERS contests while simultaneously devaluing the L$. (Which, with Philip on record as saying that Second Life's existence relies on its ability to help folks make money, seems unlikely to me.)

maybe what we need is a private, non-linden group that would give out event grants on a case-by-case basis. It'd be good PR for those interested :D

Heheh, God knows how long this has been proposed -- and supported!

So let me reiterate. Again. :)

I WILL HAPPILY SPONSOR WORTHY EVENTS. For a sum that'd be a bit more than the Linden event bonus amount, too. All you have to give me in return is a notecard-giving sign at your event that lets me promote my products. I might even donate some product for giveaway at your event, if you prefer that.

All you have to do is ask and we'd work something out.

But no one asks. No matter how many times I offer, or how many other people join in that offer, no one asks me. People whine about this measely little bonus LL used to give out without bothering to ask for a little brass from established businesses who'd likely be happy to help in exchange for some promotion. I guarantee you, with a little diplomacy, you could raise vastly more money from SL businesses than Linden Lab would have ever given you.

I'm thinking of putting together a bi monthy discussion group on the artistry of huge avatar hooters....

Oh, and the venue will be nekkid in a hottub.. I plan on giving a 500 L$ prize to whoever makes the most compelling argument in a sexi thong.

Just throwing it out there.... wanna get involved?

Im going to start pimping some cultural events once I get moved(RL). Wonderful things like these:

*from the people who brought you master debaters*
comes a new breed of event! 10 of SL's hottest ladies competing in a variety of competitions including poetry recitation, oratory speaking, rhyme composition, vocabulary, and other forms of spoken word competition.

yes, they all may compete, but only one will be named...

..the CUNNING LINGUIST!
