Looking from Europe, for me it almost seems like a joke what the US government is doing.
How come food and water supplies were not started being delivered to refugees (like astrodome ppl) on the FIRST or SECOND day???

Does one of the largest nations in the world not have enough money? Soldiers? Planes? Buses? Boats? to save their own ppl?

And now it's around 3-4 days, people are starving, etc. Even I AM ashamed in place of the US Gov even though I'm not even a citizen, just a European...

You have to realize the scope of this disaster...we aren't talking thousands of people....we're talking millions....2 states . We're talking buildings colapsing major interstates underwater....if this disaster happened in any wealthy country the outcome would be the same....the magnitude of aid needed is impossible to calculate much less begin overnight. People are doing the best they can under the circumstances.

its not enough just to deliver food and supplies they also have to be maintained.. the city is already full with spoiling food which will be creating an even worse situation soon with disease.

So, you would rather have the president and fema officials watch tv to survey the damage? There are many things in our government to bitch about but thats hardly one of em.

Personally, I'd rather have them organizing and putting into effect a huge relief effort. They were sluggish, slow and inadequate in everyone's viewpoint and people have died because of it.

True, the main headlines I hear about revolve around New Orleans, and it's 50 thousand stranded ppl (rooftops, etc) + 20-30 thousand in the stadium.

There are foods that can be stored in their cans for months without any refrigeration (can of ready made food with preservatives you can get in your local store). Granted, they don't taste the best, but they would've been probably enough for the 20-30 thousand ppl. in the stadium, if dropped from a helicopter there.

BTW, how big is New Orleans, in miles? Can't ppl. be rescued to the 'dry' part in smaller boats to tent camps? (I'd guess the military has some tents in the stores.)

Paris, didn't you hear that Congress has broken out of summer recess to sign off a bill for a multi-billion dollar aid package?

About time! My anger is more on why they are just now getting help. They should have done something 3 days ago.

Well, let's look at the agenda shall we?

Tuesday? A vote to repeal the estate tax. Good news for all those poor people dying!

Rest of the week? John Robets Supreme Court nomination hearings.

Weeeeeee!

P.S. You get one chance to guess the company awarded the contract to cleanup and rebuild NO. (hint, it rhymes with calimerton)

Well think about it...look at Bush supporters. They are all a bunch of ignorant ppl who are out of touch with reality. They live sheltered lives. Out of sight out of mind. Shame on Stream for saying that about the poor ppl. Isn't it just sad that we are surrounded by such ignorant, heartless ppl.

:( I'm not.

Heh. Watch out or someone might think you value human life over fickle morality.
