SL Boutique and SecondServer (Gigas) are top notch businesses run by trustworthy, intelligent folks. I can not be say this for the other choice.

This is an unsolicited endorsement (I sell nothing online myself) from someone who follows the practices of SL businesses and their owners closely.

... She follows them closely because she wants Linden Lab to nationalize them! ;)

I think we have done this before, on serveral occasions but anyway....

I vote for SLboutique because still to date it has the easiest interface for sellers to add new items. Gigas is too complicated and involves far too many clicks and different pages. SLExchange also involves too many pages and too many clicks. SLBoutique offers an easy user interface, even easier than Ebay :)

I prefer SL Boutique for the few things I choose to sell on the web.. I prefer it because I know Flip.... and I know where he lives :)

Seriously - these services demand a level of trust in the person who will basically vend your goods and pay you your money.. there are no contracts in SL, and they can close up shop like a fart in the wind.

I deal with SL Boutique because I know and trust Flip and Jen.. and thats my only real requirement..

(Note this doesn't mean the other services are untrustworthy.. simply that I don't know them)

Siggy.

Although Surreal manages the business end of Phobos Design entirely and Ive at least checked out a few online markets, Im gonna have to go with SLB.

First off Flipp sent me RL stuff to central America when I was having cravings...

Second, I made the prims for the SLB ATM that resembles a Georgia O'Keeffe :D

Naturally Im going to back a product that has backed me. I watched SLB grow, I've seen how much time and Effort went into it. I can only assume that the same amount of hard work went into the other online shops as well, but as Siggy said I know Flipp, and I know where he lives =P

I agree.. lately SLExchange is moving in weird directions that aren't doing anyone any good.

slexchange wins hands down on volume of sales in my experience - by quite a long way. I list on both slexchange and slboutique, and I like using both, but I can't really say that slboutique currently has anywhere near the market share that slexchange has.

The default order on SLExchange is superior, I have to admit that.

Though, I think someone needs to do order by "most revenue generated" in the last 30 days.

I like them all :)

I sell most thru SLE.... but then Flips the MAN..

Business wise, I have no idea, if i HAD a business head, i would be spending my time making RL things!

Yeah, I think a part of the popularity of SLBoutique as well is that it is intelligently focused on clothing and has a clothing theme.

Very clever, as that is a big part of the SL economy.

Flipper should host some SLBoutique pagents and stuff. Give a big prize or something to whoever wins.

For $20L Merwin says to check out Satchmo's secret project

SLindex (early adopters/beta test phase)

While it's not a vending solution, it does make it easy to search for things in the metaverse.

That's how much you say? $20,000L, and MERWAN will do what?

:)

I typed my name in and got 0 results!

Yes Merwin 20,000 Yen :)

SLindex is user created, so if you want to see yourself in it, snap a pic of yourself, put your name in the title, use the postcard body for your profile and send it to people@slindex.com :)

I've done that for myself actually.

Want to see your products? Snap a pic of them and send the postcard to products@slindex.com

Login/Edit/Upload Images are all in the short term roadmap, but the first step is to get some early adopters so we can move the site out of beta testing.

Wow, I'm glad to see people like our interface and how it works. The other services are excellent as well... I think we all appeal to different niche markets. We've got several things in the pipeline right now which I believe will continue to increase our traffic.

3 months ago, SLBoutique.com was having approximately 50 transactions a day. We've now been hitting 400 transactions a day with some regularity. This is encouraging, as we've shown good growth in both sales and number of items available. We've recently surpassed 7,000 items, with more being added daily. I'm glad the growth continued even during the time I had limited computer access, as I couldn't respond to emails as quickly as possible, or process deposits quickly enough. A new, automated deposit system has recently been installed which takes care of deposits made by earlier versions of our wallet system. Things appear to be running smoothly, despite the code release of an old version of our vendor system yesterday by our lovely hacker-friend.

We're planning on doing some events in the future to promote the site, as has been suggested. Jennyfur and I are still recovering a bit from an RL event we threw a little over a month ago - our wedding - and have been keeping things low-key since. :-)

We look forward to providing the best shopping experience for Second Lifers for years to come.

Regards,

-Flip

I sell on SLboutique and get really good sales through it. The interface is easy to use. You can add/update several items at once without having to keep updating/refreshing or changing pages.. Yay.

I do wish they had a Popular Items section like SLExchange did though. That was always fun to see what was selling.

Its funny you mention that, Jonquille! Its on the way. We're going to be adding several new "fun" ways to search for items: popular items, random items, and store pulse. Popular items will be fairly obvious, most sold; random items is also fairly obvious, it'll pick a number of items at random, and display it on the results page. Store pulse will list the most recently sold items.

We'll also display several from each of these categories on the home page instead of only the most recently added to "shake things up" a bit.

Regards,

-Flip

I was just wondering this very thing, the difference between these web sales..

What percent does each site take from sales?
1 2 3
