Music Videos that you can relate to SL?

I've been inspired by several threads lately, including this one started by StoneSelf, and have been thinking of Music Videos that I, at one time or another, have been able to relate to SL. This relates in a multifold of ways -- not only explicit audiovisual connections, but with the 1.6 features, you can watch vids inworld and there will likely be a rise of SL Machinema such as this promo by Bebop Vox as an extension of it all... so onwards into the future.

Please name your fave SL-relatable Music Videos, and better yet, reasons why or an URL where it can be watched! :D

Here's a few of mine:

Nine Inch Nails - The Perfect Drug ...Watch the video here
This one reminds me of SL simply because Wynx Whiplash and I got in a lively chat about it after she introduced her ravens a few weeks ago. It really got me thinking because I used to watch it on repeat, over and over, and the frenetic, spastic nature makes me think of the trains I see running through my head as I experience SL. I was so passionate that I made an accompanying blog entry, it's fascinating to see what's changed over time.

Future Sound of London - My Kingdom ... Great archive of FSOL stuff here
FSOL are pioneering electronic musicians big into psychadelia, and when I first saw this video almost a decade ago, I totally tripped out -- and it makes SO much sense in hindsight. It's got the base elements of a naturalistic, human setting, and yet, crude (advanced for the time) 3D graphics fly over the landscape, and there's a spikey computer-generated guy in one part who is reminiscent of certain creative avatars. FSOL's other videos like the ones for "We Have Explosive" (as featured in the Mortal Kombat movie, hehehe) and "Dead Cities" are similarly themed.

Chemical Brothers - Believe ... See the video here!
This is another great vid, much more recent, that teetertotters on the edge of reality. A bit hard to decipher what is going on at first, but keep watching and you'll see why I've listed this one. Not that I'd ever want such an experience to happen to any one of us, but the sheer possibility of madness is gripping and life-affirming.

Beck - some vid I shamefully can't remember the name of ... ack... Loki help me out here!
Awhile ago, Loki Pico cued me into a great video that has a lot of SL undertones, and even some overtones too. I think he's playing it on his land somewhere but I just cannot remember the name of the song... arghhh! ;)

Bjork - Bachelorette, Joga, more ... See them all here!
Bjork has long had a flair for the expressively eclectric, and sometimes inexpressibly idyllic. Her videos have a surrealistic flair to them, not necessarily thematically connected but distinctively recognizable as a multimedia microphone to her vocal wailing. In particular, "Joga" is a great tutorial for terraforming, and "Bachelorette"'s sets could make for some pretty inspired builds in SL... the composite architecture, the wacked-out lyrics about a killer whale, wheeeeee!

A certain Britney Spears video

Moopf, I totally know what you mean by the A-ha video, like being "drawn into life" and the rotoscoping in that -- plus the recent talk on here about intermediary video filters so that SL could look pencil-drawn. Wouldn't that be something?

Ano, it'll come back again in the future. ;)

Oooh... just wanted to share the cover of that FSOL EP:

Several times a week I make my own music videos. I take some track I like and hop in a plane and perform to the music. It is mostly demoscene tunes, since they go well with visuals. I don't usually record these, I just do it because it's a trip.

Cash's cover of Reznor/NIN's "Hurt".

Miles of decrepit malls, and closed, surburban knock-off neighborhoods. Cheap, decaying clubs, almost smelling of urine and sweaty anguish. Neon sunrises and sunsets across too-shiny beaches, like garish posters of some tropical paradise tacked to the walls of a downtown travel agency with duct tape across the cracked, dusty windows. Crowds of shuffling AV's, desperately trying to escape the sour realities of their professional lives, and the penalties of age and personal flaws in their social lives.

Addiction to SL. In all of its many forms....

Or was it Miami?

Naw! Just kidding! ;)

Loki help me out here!

Beck, Lost Cause
I set it up for those that want to drop in and see it. I will leave it up for a week or so. The movie screen is outside and easy to get too. Olive 70,115

It is eerie how much this video reminds me of SL. Things to look for... The title, Lost Cause, referring to some of the battles here in the forums. Beck is flying. He is in the appearance mode position. He is experiencing lag. He has numerous AV attachments, including a cube on his head textured with his face. And, he even has a particle poofer. Its a somber song, but a fun video to see if you ever played SL, take five mins and check it out ;)

Its all set up, just turn off the music and press play on the movie.

I'm trying to figure out what the director was going for in Loki's video and scratching my head :/

It is cool to watch though.

Some other songs that would rawk are a lot of the matrix remix's im hearing. always good for a random shoot 'em up music video, why? cause with music videos, they dont have to make sense lol. and thats what i love
