I used to be straight-up "the hotter the better". I grew up north of Buffalo so you can imagine the snow we got in the winter - I was rooting for the exact opposite, as hot as you can imagine.
Now, I'm older, I live in a place where the winters aren't nearly as harsh, and I find that I'm most comfy right at 70 degrees F. Anything more and I sweat, anything less and I'm putting on extra layers of clothing. _____________________

My question to all those people who don't like extreme heat -- why do you live in extremely hot places? I live in Chicago and we have all 4 seasons. I hate the heat we have. Why do I live here? 1) More Mechanical Engineering jobs here then any place else. 2) Top 5 places in the US for stable economy. 3) The Best Food in the world 4) Got some of the Best (not the best) Museums 5) Got some of the Best (not the best) theater 6) I can’t see why any one would not want to live in the Chicago area And how many people use good ol A/C compared to those who live in more energy-efficient (green energy?) cooled homes? If I had the money I would LOVE to build a Earthship (You know the ones made out of car tires) but I don’t have the money. I do use A/C. I am looking for a new place. When I get my house there are a few things I will do. First is a roofing shingle that is really solar panels but does not look it. I also will put a Windmill (it also has a solar panel on it). I do use the really energy-efficient lights and now looking at the LCD one that are even more efficient but the cost is 3 time what I spend now and I spend 3 times more now over the normal lights. But they all last longer so in the long run it is a savings. Just a thought that's been crossing my mind lately. Living in the city and biking everywhere, you begin to see just how cluttered the streets are with cars. Like flooded with cars all the time. The cars is not what get to me. Strip Malls, they are every place. Strip Malls are the pimples on Gaia’s ass!! _____________________

Fall in the Northeast when the humidity is low and te temps range from 50 to 70F its crystal clear and the air in my lungs feels like it should. I agree completely! I used to live in New Hampshire; New England fall is my favorite weather . ![]() And how many people use good ol A/C compared to those who live in more energy-efficient (green energy?) cooled homes? I live in a very old apartment building...my only choice is a couple of air conditioning units for the windows. Someday I hope to live in a home where i have control over my energy usage and have space to use some of my own solutions. Just a thought that's been crossing my mind lately. Living in the city and biking everywhere, you begin to see just how cluttered the streets are with cars. Like flooded with cars all the time. It's really getting on my nerves as well...I live in the city and work in the suburbs, and use my car to commute. Looking at all the cars around me, almost no one carpools either. 99% of the cars have one person in them (mine included :\ ). The company I work for already has the technology for me to telecommute, but won't. I really want to ditch my car (or stash it in the garage and only use it for traveling out of the city on weekends/etc), and it's going to be a big consideration in the next year or so. |

I like it all, except winter -- but it's definitely bearable and has it's nice side. My question to all those people who don't like extreme heat -- why do you live in extremely hot places? And how many people use good ol A/C compared to those who live in more energy-efficient (green energy?) cooled homes? Good question - I live in Florida because my husband is here and both our jobs are here. One of the reasons I have not been "in-world" much lately is that I have been spending all of my time working on a small house that my husband and I hope to finish and move into in late July. We have done a number of conservation items to the house to minimize the impact of energy consumption from installing extremely good insulation and reflective roofing to putting in solar heating for water. When we retire (and don't have to commute to work) we can use our cars less because it's a bicycle friendly place and located close enough to shopping and the down town area to easily use our bicycles. It's all part of my plan. ![]() _____________________

Get a Harley Rose !!
I like it hott hott hott! The humidity gets me sometimes but I would still rather have it hot. Born and raised in Florida, these N. Alabama winters kill me. The summer up here seems familiar at least, complete with skeeters. ![]() _____________________
