Hello. I am still relatively new here to Second Life, being a little over a month old. I read the forums as much as I can or at least skim over some of the more controversial threads. Certainly these forums have been very helpful to me in many ways to improve my SL experience.

As many people have commented both here and in world, lately it seems as if there is nothing but negativity and complaining in these pages. While obviously that is one use for the forums, unless I am looking in the wrong place, I rarely see positive or nice posts or comments.

I have been trying to keep up with all the FIC threads and thought about giving my opinion but I knew it really wouldn't mean much or would just be glossed over as friends/enemies converse back and forth. I will say this however, many people have come up to me and said, "Hey you're the guy who did the London Memorial thing, thanks." Others have said, "It is not fair that you were given free land for a week by LL's." My response was simply, "I asked." I am certainly not fetid just because I was given a spot to put a memorial and had many Linden's help me with it. Maybe if more people asked first before they started complaining, "Why didn't I get that?" there would be a few less problems.

So instead I thought I would write down my thoughts and thanks to those who have helped make SL so much fun for me. Hopefully other people can post fun places and sims to visit or interesting, unique, and positive events they hold or attend regularly.

Thank you Robin, Pathfinder, Nigel and Jeska Linden for all your help with various aspects of this game.

Thank you for all those who work the "Live Help" feature for putting up with my endless questions and sometimes tedious problems.

Thank you Anshe Chung for the prayer and reflection time on Sunday mornings in Central Park. It was wonderful to share such great thoughts with others.

Thank you Wynx Whiplash for creating the tiny critters. They are creative and I have had loads of fun with my panda.

Thank you Binnie and Brock Zander for what still has been THE most hilarious and entertaining event I have even been to, The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday nights.

Thank you Jim Bunderfeld for holding a Newbie Help Class when I first joined the game and answering MANY, MANY questions I threw at ya.

Thank you Catherine Night, Forseti Svarog, TOmmy Fairplay, Beryl Greenacre and Jonquille Noir for making awesome clothes for men and making my avie look hawt! :)

Thank you to Travis Lambert for always being there to listen when I had a problem and for really getting me started in this game.

And finally, thank you to everyone who I have ever come in contact with who made this world that much more enjoyable for me. I have had a blast so far in SL and I hope to be here for a long time and have many more fun, hilarious, touching, and entertaining moments.

Hey, Rick, it's great to see new players like yourself stepping up and doing good things (and having a lot of fun) in SL.

This is a good example of what SL offers to anybody who cares to take advantage of these opportunities. If you have stuff that you want to do, or can conceive of things that you think should be done (at the risk of sounding like a Nike commercial), just do them. It's fun to gauge your progress against others, but ultimately you need to decide on the size of your own yardstick. And if slacking is the yardstick you want to measure you SL life by, then more power to ya, as well! :)

Hey ReallyRick, that was very cool what you did. Hope to see more like it.

Your huggy-feely just-stepped-out-of-the-Waltons disposition amuses me. I will take you on as my newbie pet and call you John Boy.

First on the agenda, don't ever spell "hot" as "hawt" again. It makes me crazy, John Boy. It makes me crazy. Now fetch me my FIC bathrobe before I remember where I put that branding iron.

You're dead, Rick, and no papers for Lisbon are gonna get you out of this one. Ulrika has decided to make you her political spokesman. It may be obvious that your problem with her won't amount to more than a hill of beans in this troubled world, but I think it's the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

How suitable a paraphrasing this is, Seth; I've been hearing in my mind the quote "Play it again, Sam," a lot lately while reading the forums. (Only in this case, it should probably be "Play it again... and again... and again... and again... etc." ;) )

Rick,

Pay no mind to the crazed pregnant politico. Her bark is worse than her bite. She is getting all her aggression out of her system before she departs from the scene to launch Ulrika 2.0. She really is sweet underneath the Cruella exterior. Of course there are a few more layers beneath that before you get there. Anyway, I digress.

I am glad you have adapted so well so quickly to SL, and that you take the time to thank those who have affected you along the way. More people should do that from time to time. It is easy to get caught up in the back and forth struggles that flourish in the forums, but I don't think any of us would be so passionate if we didn't all love SL so much. Your post is a reminder of just how much this place, and in turn, each of us can impact people, and how quickly.

He also managed to find Neualtenburg from Pathfinder's Picks of the Week, where he then took a photo and posted it on SLPics! More than anything, I'm impressed with his technical skills.

If he sticks around, I predict big things for John Boy. :D

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?

Hey I am a Left-Wing Liberal Democrat orginally from San Francisco so when I heard about Neualtenburg I just had to check it out.

My technical skills unfortunately are limited to taking snapshots as I cannot even build a prim box. :)

Which kitty would I be?

As for Aimee Weber, how can she rent me for the weekend when every time I have ever ran into her, at that Midnight City hangout, she is always slumped over and "AWAY?"
