From: Pypo Chung .... I'm a freelance gesture maker, i download stuff online or in games i enjoy which i legally own and pull parts of sounds and add them to second life. These sounds are covered by law since i bought the games and own them that i can use its images, music, voices, and even game ideas anywhere i want AS LONG as i am not making a real life profit. ..... As I understand it, buying or downloading a song doesn't give one unlimited licence to use it in any way. As we have seen recently, an owner of a copyright can sue people who misused the licence agreement by sharing the music. One can copy it to another disk as a back-up copy, but one can't give a copy to a friend. This is my understanding of the legal situation from my observation over the recent past. But I'm not an authority on the matter.

From: Malachi Petunia I don't need money; your ignorant. dogmatic, presumptuous, fatuous statements have been more than enough to make me ignore your blatherings from here on.
Dianne, Take it from someone in the know. Malachi was flirting with you there.

From: Dianne Mechanique The majority of the works were produced in "factory" art settings where the "artist" is hired to paint essentially the same picture 10 to 20 times a day from a model provided to them.
I just had to quote this again, because it seems to me that the people who are ranting against Dianne are really missing this point. Let's say you buy one of these RL velvet paintings from the back of somebody's van in a parking lot flea market somewhere... are you saying it'd be no problem at all to locate the factory where the work was produced and then track down which of the dozens of anonymous employees painted it? Because if you could, I think there would be better ways to improve that employee's life than by getting his/her permission to sell virtual copies of his/her work in a pretend online world for what amounts to less than a quarter per copy in RL money. And if the artist's name was never recorded, what then? Who are you 'stealing' from in that case?

So the answer would be, contact the company that makes the product to seek permission.

I think most here are not "ranting". I think they are stating their opinions on this issue. There are people on both sides of this issue. Neither one is "ranting", they are simply stating their beliefs based on whatever it is they have stated. It is hard to listen to the veiwpoints of a person who claims those in opposition are simply "ranting". Sorry, I just get tired of people on the forums thinking that a disagreement equals a flame, rant, or attack. I'm not meaning to take it all out on you. It has just been getting to me recently.

From: Cristiano Midnight Dianne,
Take it from someone in the know. Malachi was flirting with you there. Well I *am* fairly desperate for a date, but I dont know if I am *that* desperate. If anyone *does* want to flirt with me the requirements (in order) are: 1) - female 2) - smart 3) - polite 4) - cuddly 5) - slavishly devoted to me in every way, and in very aspect of their lives.

I'm just going to shut up and stay out of it, I'm already sick to death of copyright infringement arguments.

If that means i have to ask Blizzard if i can use their music for my gesutres fine, but i know i'll never get a response anyways ^)^ I only use minor clips when comes to blizard, never full stuff, and never distrubuting irl, lol least in sl, its not like pirating and hording, but i own the cd with the materials, who knows exactly what the deal is, as long as i dont get my butt sued, i think i;ll keep going
