Do you know how it can be neither winning or losing a battle or a war? Do you know how EVERYONE in SL can win, and we can avoid a "war" altogether? Put a simple "Allow Push to Affect My Avatar" checkbox in the options panel. Yeah, I know. Some people just don't want to hear that.

They don't want to hear it because it wouldn't take something away from the "scripteratifanboyz", or Cabinhead. I find the use of the word *war* to be very telling. It's certainly more than just an analogy in some folks minds. That is abundantly clear. I reject your slider/check box, and raise you one Battle of the Bulge!

Not that easy, Nikki. Cause then you wouldn't be able to do anything about griefers, including those sitting just outside your property. (I still like the button idea, though.) coco

Sort of. Eject from land and TP home are not really push. I've used both, manualy. Very handy to have. It allows you to take care of griefers without having to call a lindy. I think a good option would be to remove the functions from scripts. Making them manual land options only.
hey you kids, get off my lawn! *waves cane*

(I still like the button idea, though.) coco Coco, as it stands, you aren't supposed to be firing (back) on griefers anyways. They can AR you and you can get suspended for it. So, since that's something you aren't supposed to do anyway....

From: Prokofy Neva Linden Labs will do nothing about the aggressive bounce scripts NOW or even in the next patch. They will do nothing because they were "gotten to" by the scripterati and the fanboyz, ganged up on in the IRC channel and the Hotline forums and bullied into submission. Score one for their side! this is tiresome. when ll agrees with prokofy, ll is being reasonable. when many people speak up and convince ll to reconsider, ll is spineless. when prokofy hectors and pontificates, prokofy is speaking for the silent majority. when people speak up in large numbers, they are surpressing the majority. feh.

A kind-of random, off-topic scripter's rant: The capability of a sensor to detect velocity needs to be used when creating a bounce script. Bounce scripts should only activate when an avatar's velocity has decreased benith a certain threashold. This way, flyers, who's velocity is pretty high, remain undisturbed compared to those that stop (or slow down) over a certain plot of land.
Just offering another idea for those who create bounce scripts. ==Chris

This may be a debatable analogy, but I look at this in the same fashion that I view the urinalysis tests I am required to take in my employment, I hate them, they are a necessary evil and if no one broke the laws regarding the narcotics being tested for, I'd never have to worry about it again.
If you give all avatars the "turn push off button" then you give the "griefers" free rein and you must rely on a Linden being available to assist you, or you log off.
You can set up the native barrier system, you know, that horribly view interrupting group of red lines, across your property. (bleh)
You can play the martyr, and just, without the option to (used loosely) to use self-defense, suck it up and allow your playtime to be ruined.
Or, you can just use push scripts responsibly, and you'll never have to worry, let the Lindens set up a set of guidlines officially for their proper use, and understand and accept, eventually you will be banned if you abuse the privilege of using push scripts against other avatars.
Truly, this becomes tiresome, and will certainly be a debate long, long into the future.

Um. Battle? War? The only reason there's any real fighting here is people are taking this all too personally. As much as I'd love to have a good debate, anger is the easiest way to fly off topic and right into the refuse bin. So, if anyone here has an argument to bring, I suggest reading here: http://forevergeek.com/articles/38_ways_to_win_an_argument.php... and backing your argument with some hard facts. Do not generalize. Do not oversimplify. Do not play at the mouthpiece of the masses. Stick to the point and bring it with evidence, and maybe, just maybe it'll be heard. And now, just for fun: http://www.orange-papers.org/orange-winargs.html
