have you been experiencing the opposite of ghosting? (ghosting: deleting an object, but it looks like it's still there until you relog)
every once in a while i'm looking at somthing and it flickers out of existence. and then it comes back. sometimes it doesn't come back until i relog.
and sometimes when i'm edting objects, if i'm editing a single prim, that prim sometimes disappears until i relog, but the rest of the object is still around.
anyone else having experiences like this?

Yes I've been having that alot. Another one I've been seeing when building is some bug with the root prim of a linked object. When I link a group of prims, the root prim will then light up... as if the material is changed to light, but the material isn't light. Fiddling around with it, going into my appearence or groups, and other little things will correct it for like 2 seconds and it lights back up. Really bites completing a project and then not knowing if it's safe to vend because this statue's chest lights up like a flashlight. Is it just me?

oh yes! I hate this StoneSelf! It is almost as bad as flickering textures on prims that don't line up. Man that drives me nuts!

Yes, and is it ever annoying.
If you have prims being stubbornly invisible, don't relog, swap group tags. For whatever reason, that usually makes them repappear.

I'm having linked prims in an object suddenly appear out-of-place, rotated or separate from the other prims. After a few seconds the "distorted" prims disappear. Taking the whole object into inventory and then bringing it out again "fixes" the issue. Until the next time it happens.

From: Cocoanut Koala What is a root prim? That would be the *very* first prim you created to start building any item. EDIT TO ADD: and that you then linked other prims to as you build..

I'm having this too. God I hate it with every fiber of my being.
I posted it to the technical forum along with a host of other prim related issues. No answers yet. Next step, hotline.

From: Cocoanut Koala What is a root prim?
coco The root prim of an object is the very last prim selected before linking. We often refer to it the parent prim as well.

coco it's the last prim you select when you when you link objects. you can pick a particular prim to be the root, by using shift-click to unselect and then shift-clicking to select it again.

pfft! Stone and Khamon described it better. I always use my *first* prim as my *last* prim to link. So they end up being one and the same. But I know my answer is not as good as theirs as not everyone builds the same way I do.

Being new i just thought that was the "tools" (i.e - nothing unusual) Nope, never used to happen, at least since 1.4 when I started. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the Edit Linked Prims feature since the problems started at the same time it was instituted (and I notice it more frequently when I'm in that Edit Linked Prims mode). But man, it drives me up a frikkin wall. EDIT: still no answer in Technical - its now been Hotlined.

Yes, I'm having it too. Whole groups of things flickering in and out of invisibility, and the root prim lighting up when it's linked. I thought it was just me!
