sigh... okay, not to go into a big rl tangent, lol... but my bad luck's coming in batches nowadays. maybe you know this much - i'd only just gotten to try sl for the first time about three weeks back. only a few days after that, my (then) current job ended, and so did my access to a nice, brand new sl-capable machine...

well, just yesterday afternoon, my next newest machine (1999 bronze/lombard mac laptop, affectionately nicknamed 'gonzo':) just went kaput for good, i think... i've had it repaired before, but i'm not sure if it's worth the effort this time. fortunately, i'd -just- backed up everything really important this past weekend, so i didn't lose anything significant...

so now i'm alllll the way back on the 96 machine, lol - a 7600 (7500 with a cpu swap). like, there is -no- vram on this ol' sucker... so even rendering long web pages takes nearly forever (though fortunately i get a timeout before the 'forever' part, lol).

you can probably tell, i'm lol-ing a lot 'cuz i can't do much else about all this, except... lol!! (and, i'm reminding myself that none of this has been a -truly- human tragedy - but i don't wanna jinx myself too much here.:)

this truly sucks, though... i'll keep checking in once in a while, and hopefully have a new machine arranged before too long, but 'till then, i sadly won't be around as much - just too dang slow to even surf the web with this old thing.

a personal plea, if someone could do me the favor - please visit jezebel yaffle (she has a funny lil' 'strip triva' game a few times a week:) and tell her i'm so sorry i've not been back; i placed a forum message or two for her to find, but i don't think she ever visits to the forums anymore. i never got the chance to tell her - please let her know i miss her!!

and, with all that being said... -i love you all!!- :) take care... i'll be around once in awhile, so please don't call it the end... i won't. :)

so please keep the thread going!! :) i'm still stumped on the backlog of unconfirmed ones... 'escape from ny' is my best guess on that one line, though i'll probably bang my head over the real answer...

speaking of john carpenter, that's a big ol' hint for 'drop-drop-drop'. :)

couple easy ones to leave on:

"no, 'duh' is a product of -fear.-"

and...

"wait! we can't stop here... this is bat country."

:) byebye - better luck to you all than mine... lol!! :)

i sure am... if you're not sure if you're giving away something terribly obvious, try the 'backwards' trick like i did... i know i can't read it unless i concentrate. :)

okay, new one - again, haven't watched this one in awhile, so pardon my rephrasing... also don't know if conversation between characters counts, but it doesn't work without the interchange...

"you guys cover my back... you know what they do."
"create bilous pockets of infected pus sir?"

hehee - though i didn't know it got renamed with an extra 'l'. :) liona, did he get it right? seemed specific enough about it... i'm going to refrain from banging my head for that one, as i don't have a copy of it myself, and hadn't seen it in years. :)

hummm, misty's new lines stump me, too. jake, got a fave line we can take a guess at?

a more obscure one, if that was too easy (okay, -how- geeky are ya??;):
'RESET and switch in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... drop (RRRRR!) drop!! (RRRRR!) DRAAAAAAHHHHHHHP! (RRRRR... RRRRR...)'

I'm thinking Alien II directed by James Cameron, as they take the shuttle down to the planet, releasing from the mothership. Or is it Alien by Ridley Scott?

lol! nope... here's a politically-laced hint: foolish, unfocused conflict, and this is the second time we went there. :)

'drop-drop-drop': hey, you're getting close!! :) if you look up the orig 'alien' writer, and cross-correlate him with the john carpenter clue... okay, okay, too much work. :) it's probably a movie no one else has seen but me... i'll give it the backwards treatment here... skip down if you don'wunnaknow...

uh... dunno!! uh... 'osmosis jones??' :) never seen it... (hehee, i'm gonna use that as my default wildguess now... made me laugh when you said that :)

Amendment to Rules ...
08-11-2005 03:23
Since we've got a nice free flowing bunch of quotes moving through here, I'd like to suggest that if, what? 1 day has gone by and no one has gotten your quote, add a clue (if possible).

If another 2 days (?) have gone by and you dont' want to offer another clue, get us all off the hook and spill it!

Dunno about anyone else, but I'd like ot know from what movie the "lost" quotes were excerpted.

We all cool with this? Any other suggestions, I've made this game up off the top of my head seeing what's fun about the other threads (stuff moves quickly, no stagnation, an engaging topic w/a wide common base of knowledge).

Thank you for your continued support (TV not movies)!

- Madame

And we resume the game already in progress with a clue for my last quote:

"Leukoplakia!" is the quote.

[3 major stars of the 80's, two of whom still have notable careers now, pretty much got their start in this sweet "teen" film, 1 teen flick has been, 1 A list heartrob/bad boy, 1 A list waif, all brunettes] is the clue of run-on proportions!

PARTY ON!

The A list heartrob/bad boy did a cameo in another teen film on his day off as they were being shot in the same metropolitan area, near a big BIG lake, a city I love to bitsnpieces. He's 2nd generation Hollywood A list. His older brother, who has a differen last name, is also very very very well known. He is in a sleeper hit tv show right now, their father is "presiding" over a top-rated tv show right now.

Did I mention he's really good looking?
