http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Movies/03/15/film.proulx.ap/index.htmlHere are my feelings about this: * When I saw the Best Picture nominations, I thought all of them were worthy. I had seen all of the films nominated (for once) and considered them all extraordinary works of art which deserved the nominations - there could even have been two or three other excellent films nominated. * I think it's pretty impolitic, and kind of childish, to complain about losing an award in the manner done in this article. Gracious is clearly not in her vocabulary. I loved the film and the short story, but I have much less respect for the author herself after this tirade. What do you all think?

Wow, what a sore loser. I'm speechless, after reading her pathetic, whiney tirade.

From: someone She decries the "atmosphere of insufferable self-importance" inside the Kodak Theatre, the Oscars site, and describes the audience as a "somewhat dim LA crowd." Well, that sounds reasonable.

From: Ordinal Malaprop Well, that sounds reasonable. Perhaps, but not if you're only saying it because your film lost. Then it just seems petty.

I don't think she would have said it if her film had won all the awards she'd wanted, no. Not in public anyway.

Sour Grapes Pfft From: Ordinal Malaprop Well, that sounds reasonable. True, but would she have the same opinion if her picture had won? Me thinks not. Or if she did, she'd keep it to her self

Well as movies go, they all sucked. Everyone is good at making a statement, maybe they ought to go back to making a movie.

Well, as a card carrying homosexual who loves nothing more than a nice piece of man ass, I have to say the Brokeback left me feeling a little, ehhhh.
It was a good movie but nothing spectacular. However, if they ever made a movie about the life of the Michelle Williams character I would probably love it.
That being said, Crash was probably the worst piece of shit I have ever tried to watch. Who the hell came up with that movie? If you haven't seen Crash, let me give you a quick review.
Some people got together and tried to cram as much depressing and "meaningful" shit as they could into a two hour movie and still have people learn some lessons (like an after school special) at the end.

The Oscars suck lately. We need more movies intended to make flimsy and one-sided political statements that are loosely based in reality! That's quality shit, there.
Crash sorta sucked and Brokeback wasn't anything special from what I've heard, what's the difference?

Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

From: Neehai Zapata Well, as a card carrying homosexual You guys get cards now? Why are the gays always so far ahead of the lesbian, bisexual and hetrosexual crowds? And.. what discounts does the card entitle you to get?

And.. what discounts does the card entitle you to get? because it's okay to be a lesbian. It's tolerated. What I don't like is watching a talk show with groups of gay cowboys that said everyone laughed in the theaters when the woman in the film was distraught over her husband kissing another man and when asked why they replied with "Well so that women would know how it feels to be oppressed". Oh yeah, bite me!

just sayin' Yes! I don't see how what she said was so much of a sour grapes thing either. All she said was that at the last minute, and because a lot of MONEY was paid out, a really shitty movie about (surprise?) Los Angeles, ... comes out of nowhere and wins best picture of the year. Seems pretty true to me. I'd be pissed off too.

Crash DID suck and Brokeback could have been on the Lifetime channel I agree. Goodnight and Good Luck is a great movie. I knew it wouldn't win, though. It didn't make enough money. I did think Crash was good, though. It made a lasting impression on me. My husband liked it, too, which was very unusual for him, since there were no hobbits or droids in it.

LOL! I know many a "macho-hetero-Western Lovin-rednecks" that went to see Brokeback. Funny.... they didn't like it? Then when the morons would complain I just dig into 'em with "Well why do you think country music is so big right now? It's underlying message is being gay". Man they just get SO pissed! I lurv teasing the homophobics I'll stick to Sci-Fi, Fantasy, horror, low-budgets, anime & animated films.

Don't worry, it eventually comes to an end. Although, I can still recite the Land Before Time movies, annoying squeals from Ducky and all...
