*chuckles*
Would you be offended if someone said, "Fluffy Magic Bunnies bless America"?

No. Because they do.

Now that all the obvious ones are taken...

"Epiphany."

And if we weren't restricted to Christianity, I'd add "babble."

Hate to break an amusing thread with some scholarship.... Christianity was very derivative...

Not a phrase, really, but if there was no Christianity then the character "Christof" in the Truman Show wouldn't have been created (and maybe not even the movie itself since it is somewhat of a religious allegory).

"I, George Walker Bush, am pleased to accept the presidency."

Sorry, had to. :D

GADZOOKS! "God's hooks" ... referring not to fishing tools but to the nails binding Jesus to the cross --- although the whole fish-hook thing was wonderfully imagined in Howard Waldrop's short story "God's Hooks," a riff on Isaak Walton's The Compleat Angler, in which Waldrop story Mr. Walton goes fishing for Leviathan ...

ZOUNDS! "God's wounds" ... and, again, see the whole mythos of Christ and his crucifixion ...

CRIMINY! A euphemism for "Christ!"

CRIPES! Another euphemism for "Christ!"

BLIMEY! Chiefly Brit. A contraction of "God blind me!"

There's a whole lot more, of course, but it's late, so let's end this post with ...

GOODBYE! "God be w' ye!"

"Oh Jesus!"

"Oh my God!"

Memory I didn't know any of that before. That was educational.

And ...

Something my dear, departed grandfather used to say --- without any irony at all:

JUMPIN' JEHOSOPHAT!

I mean, "Jehosophat," that's gotta be biblical, right?

I know I'm just a stupid noob and I have no right to comment on anything in these forums, but here goes anyway. Okay, I am not the least bit religious. I don't like how many people/groups use religion to justify their own misguided agenda. However, I would like to know what exactly is so offensive about the words "god bless america?" Is it really such a repulsive thing to hear, read, or say?

Yes, it is incredibly offensive. For starters, it's a purely monotheistic saying. What about polytheists? Atheists? It's a fine example of bigotry, and an assumption by monotheists that the country belongs to them and the rest of us are just second class citizens. Look at it another way... what if it was Allah Bless America? Would you object to that? If not I can guarantee you that 90% of the people with God Bless America stickers on their cars sure as hell would. But I guess it's okay as long as we're only offending people who aren't Christians or Jews. They're not really Americans anyway. :p

The other big reason why it's so offensive is that it's obnoixiously arrogant. It says "dear God, please like us best. Screw all those other people." It's unbecoming. Why not "god bless everyone equally"? No no, that would never do! Then we won't have the advantage!
