Iran warns U.S. on oil shipments
TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- Ayatollah Ali Khameni, Iran's supreme leader, has warned the United States that any "misbehavior" directed at Iran would serve to disrupt Gulf energy shipments.

Tehran hasn't even received the U.N. package of incentives and have already said 'no'. Now they are threatening with oil.

This could get really interesting by 2007

Now that's not fair. the USA did exactly the same with numerous terrorist groups throughout South America, but they never gave out nukes. Why the double standard in making assuptions about what a nation will do with nukes?

Because the groups we aided are nowhere near as fanatical or crazy as the ones Iran supports.

Iran is supporting more fanatical organizations than Al-Qaeda? News to me.

It was a NATO action.

Whats wrong with bombing the enemy until they can't shoot back? Would you rather our soldiers, sailors\coastguard, airmen, marines or guardsmen go into a conflict against a fully mobilized enemy force that hasn't been softened by bombing? Why do you hate our armed forces?

I didn't count that one because it was officially considered a UN action, not a US one. But sicne you want to count it, note that it fits the pattern perfectly of making sure the enemy absolutely positively can't shoot back.

Iran's support includes funding, providing safe haven, training, and weapons to a wide variety of terrorist groups including Lebanese Hizballah, HAMAS, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Liberation Front for Palestine-General Command. Its support of HAMAS and Palestinian Islamic Jihad is of particular concern, as both groups continue their deliberate policies of attacking Israeli citizens with suicide bombings.

Finally, the U.S. Government insists that Iran cease its current policy of providing a safe-haven to al-Qaida and Ansar al-Islam operatives and cooperate with international efforts to bring them to justice. The United States has been concerned for some time about the presence in Iran of al-Qaida members, including senior al-Qaida leaders. We believe that some elements within the Iranian regime have helped al-Qaida terrorists transit or find safe-haven inside Iran. Moreover, we believe senior al-Qaida terrorists inside Iran played a part in the planning of the May 12 Riyadh bombings.

Why, the good ole US of A of course. We should be thanking Iran for providing such good support to our anti-soviet troops. I mean, the way our foreign policy is now, you'd think the republicans were REDS or something.

But my point to Devon was that the groups we aided are pretty much the same groups Iran is aiding. And until recently, both ourselves and Israel were both funding anti-israel groups for a long time.

Just curious, but why would neo cons that revere reagen and nixon say they want to dismantle terrorist networks when the people they revere set those same networks up? It's kinda like saying you loved how effective death camps were, but want them all closed down. Or that you really like the taste of spam, but want it made illegal...

Hegellian dialect - Thesis/Antithesis.
create a problem.
come along with a bunch of solutions.
you gotta pick one of them.

[btw i havnt made my mind up on most of these issues so all articles referenced are just trying to look at all sides of the argument.]

also look into Leo Strauss.
