~Will it be Taylor or Katherine?~

For the last few years I have become an avid American Idol fan, mainly because I wish I had the damn guts to try out and be on the show myself. Over the years for the most part I have been Happy with who won, except last year (Poor Bo!) This year finds me really rooting for Taylor Hicks to win. Personally I am not liking Katherine all that well, she has forgotten several song lines, hasn't really done anything amazing, chooses songs that are way out of her league, and hasn't lended any major originality to anything she sings. I really think Chris should still be there or at least Elliott who was way better than her. Taylor was seen as a bit of an underdog because of his looks and I was worried he wouldn't make it this far because lets face it, alot of people vote on looks and not talent. He is always happy and energetic and not in a fake way and takes any criticism well unlike Katherine who last week told the judges they were being mean to her. Poor thing.

I haven't seen any threads on American Idol this year so I assume I am the only one who watches it lol. But in the off chance that anyone watches and is rooting for a particular person, fell free to post here who you want to win

Finally something other than pop

You forgot the choice that says "who gives a crap" so I couldn't vote.

It's "Katharine", and she has had by far the better voice of any other contestant this side of Paris Bennett all season. That doesn't automatically translate into a winner, since we're talking about popularity, looks, stage presence, etc., as well as talent.

I've been a big Kat fan all along, but I don't think she's made good song choices (thus being in the bottom 3 more than once) and I hate the way she can sing a sad song and still smile and flirt with the camera. That tells me she's not emoting with the words, she's trying to charm the audience.

That said, nobody on the show this entire season has knocked'em dead like she did with "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". That was a piece of perfection in a sea of mediocrity as far as I was concerned.

I've been a Taylor fan, too, and I'm not waffling here. I liked him the moment I saw him audition. He's original, and I love his Michael McDonald/Joe Cocker/Ray Charles style. When he played the harmonica walking into the judge's room back when they narrowed the field to 12, I immediately fell in love with the guy. I really didn't think he'd last this long but if he wins tonight I'm all for that too.

This may sound weird but if Kat and Taylor both produced CDs after the show is over, I'd buy Taylor's in a heartbeat. Not so sure about Kat.

One AI rumors site claimed that when contestants are voted off, their fans move behind someone close in style. That tells us that, if true, the loss of Elliott and Chris may have thrown more votes behind Taylor and given him the edge tonight.

Well, I was a fan of Chris (totally shocked when he got booted). But I've also liked Taylor since he first auditioned. Hope he wins it (It'd be nice to see a dude win, since Rubin didn't amount to much).

I'm going for Taylor. He has a great voice and his gray hair is extremely attractive.

Hopefully Taylor will be crowned, he's a big dork, and that's awesome.

I really liked her too, she could belt the hell out of a song that's for sure.

Mandisa had one of the most powerful, pure voices I've heard on the show in 5 seasons. But I think some of the popular prejudice against non-standard female body image worked against her. It's no coincidence that Ruben won, despite weighing over 300 lbs at one point, but Mandisa couldn't make it to the final four. Those camera angles focusing on her caboose were completely uncalled for an unflattering. I don't remember the camera *ever showing Ruben's butt.

She may get the last laugh. I could see her having a career to rival Aretha Franklin's if she gets the breaks. Aretha wasn't a small woman, but her voice was one of the greats.

Poor imitation of Star Search. Ed McMahon could host circles around the Idol crew.

even after that Somewhere Over the Rainbow performance, i still beliee Taylor is going to clinch this season.

while Kat can bring a tear toyour eye, it's Taylor who is really connecting with what he's singing.. aware of the lyrics.

Chris will be fine, he made it far enough that he'll get a contract for himself and his band as well, possibly. most likely, it will be better for him (and his band) that he didn't win.

Chris is better off without having won...he WILL be a star, and Idol was good for getting him out there, but not as winner.
I think the songs written for Katherine and Taylor to sing as their "new singles" tonight both sucked. But Taylor gets my vote...he's got that bluesy rock sound down that needs to make a comeback in this day and age of same shit over and over again.

No kidding. Whoever wrote those two songs (I had a hunch it was the same writer) needs to be fired. Talk about formulaic and uninspired.

Taylor turned in the best overall performance last night, but that doesn't guarantee a win. It's still going to come down to the size of their following, and if (as one website claimed) Taylor inherited the voters that were behind Chris & Elliott, then he'll take it. Wouldn't surprise me a bit, and I think he'll be a good choice as the winner.

I liked how Paula & Randy were making sure everyone remembered how Simon was the only one of them who voted against accepting Taylor back during auditions. Don't let him forget that

I think Taylor did a wonderful job last night, especially with the lame song that was written for them. I dunno why those songs always suck but they do lol. I think the only decent song that was written for the singers was the one Fantasia did, that one blew me away. When Katharine sang the song I was like hmm ok and I was worried about how Taylor would do with it but when he really got into the song, I actually liked it. He adds so much to the songs whereas Kat just kind of sings and gives the camera sexy smoldering looks like Ace did. Her rendition of Somewhere over the rainbow was good except it was soooo slow I felt like taking a nap during it.

I hope Taylor wins, he deserves it. SOUL PATROL! hehe
