I suspect he's really a left-wing atheist tree-hugging hippie liberal out to make the religious right look utterly ridiculous.

Yea, those are just fancy stories designed to teach people things. The Christians, and I think the other religions that have one god, all say that God is "all powerful". If Satan is a counter balance of some sort to God, that would make God not all powerful.

Yes, God is everything that exists everywhere, "good" and "evil". All powerful, all knowing, etc. The Christian God is also called "all good", but that doesn't mean what a lot of people think it means. It actually is a way of explaining that everything "good" and "evil" is both necessary and "good". Good and Evil work off of each other, and if one didn't exist, the other could not exist.

Similar to my Native American beliefs in the Great Spirit. Shamanism does not consider "energy" to be either good or bad, just present. It is the intent that it is used for that "labels" the energy.

Yea, I think the ideas of Good and Evil have been built up over the years into something they aren't. They aren't really opposing forces, they always work together.

Anyway, if you want to actually try to understand religious people when they're talking and you're not a person that "believes" in "God", whenever they refer to God, replace it with "everything that exists everywhere". Their statements will make more sense.

After I figured this out, I was able to have all kinds of religious discussions with religious people. I'm not religious at all.

Like peanut butter and jelly?

Which is the good one and which is the evil one?

As for Robertson and all the other wacko Christians (I am not referring to all Christians, just the wacho ones for those waiting to be offended), they are just upset with anything that prevents all the Jews from being together in Israel.

When Jesus comes back (and he will, on a big white horse with a flaming sword) he expects all the Jews to be in Israel. If they are not in Israel, either he won't come or he will be really pissed off when he gets here.

Places! Places everyone! Jesus is coming. Places!

No offence to the aboriginal person who made the original statement, but this is absolute nonsense.

To paraphrase:

matter and anti-matter are not really opposites; they are all part of the same universe.

Or in the original statement:

matter and anti-matter don't exist, just the vacuum exists; only when the vacuum produces matter or anti-matter do matter and anti-matter exist.

Wuh?

The second part of each statement either fails to contradict, fails to back up, or fails to even relate to the first part of each statement (sometimes all three!). It's all terribly mystical, but these statements have no actual meaning.

See, Stankleberry has mastered the language of religion.

I'm a latecomer to this thread, but if Robertson's logic stands, then the severe Texas drought and subsequent wildfires are the direct result of:

a) The overwhelming approval of the TX constitutional gay marriage ban;
b) The political corruption scandals of Houston Congressman, Tom De Lay (R);
c) Houston-based uber contractor Haliburton and it's endless global mis-deeds.
(fill in many more blanks here _____)

Smoting seems to be bi-partisan. Who knew?

I don't think you're understanding what's being said.
