It's kind of frightening the lack of compassion shown by some of the people on this forum. I know that to most of you your sarcastic biting remarks are the epitomy droll humor and a way to make you feel better about yourselves but please. And, for that matter, how many of you "Parents" in this thread have school age children? Do you know thier teacher? You entrust these people with the lives of your most loved offspring. What if they are sick? You know who is going to be coming in that day to substitute? No? Are you just much to busy with your work? Secondlife git ya by the brains? Hmm? To busy posting sarcastic remarks in an online forum would be my guess. Talking shit about "Them" and watching out for them. And making a concerned and informed parent out to be some kind of freak for worrying about thier child. I tell my children. Don't talk to strangers, never get into a strangers car blah blah blah but what should I do about thier teachers? I have always told my children to listen to thier teachers cause they are there to teach them. So. My point being. fuck it. traumatize your kid. The most powerful nation in the world...and we're scared of our own shadow. Sorry, you *can't* protect yourself from unknown sexual predators. Bad stuff happens, and when it does, we bitch about how it should have been avoided, and there ougha be a law...Ban the videogames, burn the D&D books, remove *all* references to sex (but violence is okay, since you can use it against the unknown agressor...after all, he's probably got WMDs in his pocket). And you know what will happen when you've done all of that? Bad Stuff Will Still Happen. Katrina will come along and wipe out a city...and somehow people think that if we'd only built it levees stronger, it wouldn't have happened. Got to have someone to blame...Because Lord knows, we can't handle trauma on our own. There's a phrase that comes from the King James Bible that really applies here, no matter what your religious beliefs. Fear Not. FDR was a smart man, saying what he said about fear. If only the rest of his country wasn't so cowardly. _____________________

And that, Griefy, is the entire point. Teach your children to be aware, how to react, and who to tell. That's far more effective than living in abject fear all the time. Liona's post was right on the money. Kids who are filled full of fear and be ashamed of their sexuality and that of others tend to grow up to be child molesters. The question isn't how to prevent things like this from happening. You can't. The real question is how to have a more enlightened society that doesn't create so many molesters in the first place. _____________________

Unfortunately, the "6% of them ever do the same crime again." rate is skewed, many victims do not report the crime. Especially young boys who are victimized.

But, if you do have children, make sure you drill it into their brains that the worst thing that could ever possibly happen to them is to have someone touch their boobies so that if it ever happens they'll be properly traumatized by it. I can't seem to get an answer from anyone. ~Ulrika~ One possibility: History is decided on a moment by moment basis because of the subjectivity of authorship and bears only surface resemblance to the sequence of events which may or may not have happened in the past. When the past is stolen, you can bet the criminals have taken it. However, those temporal thieves only exist in the future which is why you always hear John Walsh talking about the criminals that would be caught. When they are initially caught, they become downgraded to "suspects." If convicted, they become downgraded even further to the status of "prisoner" (that is, "ex-criminals"  . He had no criminal history because it was stolen and placed in the future which has now become our past, which means we actually have the criminal history (because if he had it, he would just hide it in the future again-- but luckily he can't get his hands on it now because he is handcuffed). Another posibility: He could have had a criminal history if you argue that he indeed had a criminal history at the time of his criminal activities but it was obfuscated by the future innocence which he borrowed in the future and hid in the past which was his present. He stole too much innocence from his future and exceeded his balance so now the creditors have come to take the innocence back by recognizing the criminal history that existed prior to the discovery of his criminal history which was written after the criminal deeds took place. So either history is history prior to it being written, which would be a faith-based answer since the condition of something being history requires a third party to experience and label it as history, or history is history only after it has been written which is why the OP declared that he had no criminal history prior to being caught (thus validating his actions as perfectly moral prior to his arrest). I hope this slice of pie has enlightened you during these approx. 4.75 hours of need. _____________________
