The hollow Earth bit is true. I have very reliable sources, which I can't divulge at this time. You'll just have to take my word for it.

The thing about the Earth not orbiting the Sun...those people are just loonies.

Yeah, everyone knows that both the Sun and the Earth orbit the Moon.

So, when will we see your proof sent in and posted on their site? I'd like to see you win the $1000 from them. :)

*note: I happen to be a big fan of Heliocentrism, so don't go mocking me asking for proof :) *

Obviously they'll never actually give out the $1000 if they're not already convinced, so it would be a fool's errand trying to win it. If the Earth didn't orbit the sun I suspect nasa would have a pretty low success rate of sending probes to where they're supposed to go. :p People with that severity of denial will never be convinced of anything they don't want to believe.

Wouldn't there be billions of people aorund the world that believe this? Most of the world is illiterate and there are many groups of people that live today just as they did thousands of years ago.

Most Brits reject evolution

BBC: Most Brits Don’t Believe in Evolution

Scientists may sneer at those who question the theory of evolution but a new survey says that most people in the United Kingdom do not accept it as valid.

According to BBC, their survey of 2000 participants in a program "Horizon: A War on Science” showed that "more than half the British population does not accept the theory of evolution.”

The program’s editor Andrew Cohen told Britain’s The Register: "I think that this poll represents our first introduction to the British public's views on this issue. Most people would have expected the public to go for evolution theory, but it seems there are lots of people who appear to believe in an alternative theory for life's origins."

According to The Register, the survey found that while 48 per cent of people opted for evolution as that which "best described their view of the origin and development of life", a majority had either other opinions or none at all with 22 per cent opting for creationism and 17 percent for intelligent design.

Asked which of the three theories should be included in school science lessons, 44 per cent said creationism should be on the agenda, 41 per cent voted for intelligent design, while 69 per cent backed evolution.

The Register notes that survey "participants over 55 were more likely to choose evolution over other groups, while those under 25 were most likely to opt for intelligent design."

This prompted the paper to comment that older people have either come to the "correct conclusion" over time, or are possibly "too old to accept the exciting and irrefutable truth of intelligent design."

Awwww, don't cop out! You owe it to Copernicus to prove these non-believers wrong! :D

Well, can you prove that the entire universe doesn't revolve around the Earth? :p

Actually, you're free to choose your reference frame anywhere. The problem is that if you choose the earth as your refrence frame, you have to account for the fact that your reference frame is accelerating.

Its like a person inside one of those rides that spins around and presses you against the wall as the floor drops out. If you choose your reference frame from the point of view of someone riding inside, the mathematics of motion become very messy.

Actually, Copernicus had it wrong too, although he was on the right track. His theory was correct, but his math was wrong.

It was Kepler, who determined that planets do not orbit in perfect circles, but in elipses and are influenced by drag.

Ooooo... Kepler.

Ever read up on him? He made Isaac Newton sound sane by comparison.

According to Kepler, the 'tones' for some of the planets were 'mi', 'fa', 'mi', due to their orbits, which represented 'misery', 'famine', 'misery'. (maybe that was just Earth, it's been a while)

Newton thanked his god on his deathbead, that he was going to die a virgin (which, apparently, he did).

Godel went mad *while proving* the Incompleteness Theorem.

And we all know what happened to John Nash in the Beautiful Mind.

What is it about mathematics that is so dangerous to the psyche?

It seems to be more risky than quite a number of illicit activities.

Then again, Einstein survived speaking the Language of Gods... and was quite the ladies' man, if certain letters to various women (one a KGB agent) can be trusted.

I do hope Seifert Surface beats the odds!

I think it's more likely that there is a correlation but no direct causal link. That is, people with "different" minds can be amazingly creative, but also have a higher chance of mental problems. For example, we see quite a bit of craziness in artists as well. Then again, I can imagine that spending years with your head in a formal system rather than the real world could leave some marks. Ah yes, that's why I'm doing SL, it's for my sanity ;p

Read absolutely none of this thread I have a standard response.

The world revolves around me, in fact it wouldn't exist without me (the old tree in the forest thingy)

Space Probes have watched the Earth Revolve around the sun. The Mars Observer took a series of photos that clearly show the earth revolving around the sun, and the sun remaining still based upon the movement of background stars as seen from mars.

This contest is BOGUS
