Maybe next time some of you can debate his topic rather than ad hominem him.

Statements like the following have no place in 'logical' discourse, despite the author's repeated accusations of 'logical fallacy' leveled at other posters:

It could be that or it could be that I was tactfully trying to tell you that you have the education and intellect of a high school student and because of your limited schooling and faculties, you are unable to understand the replies that are given to you by those who are not cursed with your limitations.

Keep going, though. You almost have me convinced.
Personal attacks, pointing out spelling errors, etc. How erudite. How fucking sad.

This is but one example of the pack dog attacks Kevn endured in that thread. Some of you folks make me ashamed to be an atheistic liberal at times.

Well, y'all turned what might have been an interesting discussion into a fuckin' flamefest, and actually made me feel sorry for Kevn. Obviously I don't agree with him, and I don't think his POV is a valid one, but there are tens of millions of people who understand the world on his terms - and they deserve a dialogue. And so do people who believe as I do.

By "y'all", I mean "some people". ;)

I believe that Kevn was given a tremendous amount of respect in all of his recent creationist-themed threads. They only turned dark after the last thread and then only after ten pages of folks making the same statements and corrections over and over.

For instance, I stated some very elemental facts in several threads:
  1. Evolution, the change of an organism over time, is an observed fact and natural selection is the theory that attempts to explain it.
  2. Arguments based on infinitesimal probabilities only prove that a process is not random.
  3. Natural selection is not a random process.

All of these concepts, stated over and over are simply ignored and unincorporated into the next iteration of the discussion. What results is a mock conversation where no shared concepts, terminology, or facts are agreed upon.

It's frustrating and folks are bound to get angry.

Look, Kevn wasn't rude. He was wrong in my opinion, but that is in no way an invitation for abject ridicule. I would have posted my own thoughts, having been educated in exactly that field, however, when I saw the way that thread was going (as with most here lately), I decided not to post, as he was already being discredited personally. Any fact I could have added at that point was moot, as the discussion had been reduced to sanctimonious name calling and ridicule.

Benthic? Sessile? Both? You decide.

Where I come from, POV is used all the time to describe a Personally Owned Vehicle. You can only imagine the confusion my brain washed mind went through when reading your post.:) I finally remembered that in my distant past POV meant point of view. I should come up with some sort of acronym game, these are fun.

Apples and oranges. You were accusing the existing community of certain things. You took some heat in return. I am sorry about it and am also ashamed of my behavior our resultant discourse(s). It is most certainly not the highlight of my SL.

He actually made the mistake of being rude to me right at the end. That's when I pulled back my skin to reveal angry skull. By book or stick, I'll learn him good. :D

What I'm curious about is how someone can believe in something even knowing that they must lie to support their belief.

In this case the lie is that with those who do not believe in creationism believe that life began with highly complex organisms. Any intelligent person knows this is not true.

It is just mind boggling that the divine intervention group would dig in their heals on an argument that they support with lies and ignorance, and they don't ever seem to mind that they are that way.

Why wouldn't someone who knows they are wrong want to find a better argument or position? Why would someone choose ignorance and also choose to lie to support it?

Hah! I caught you! You're making a comic reference to the clerical history of the clergy, when they defined the sum total of science, medicine, and religion (plus government, but let's not go there). Secret comedians, I see you all. I will root you all out and destroy you!

Let me guess.... You're six years old, and you live in a used car lot, right?

Naaah, POV means "point of view" and has always meant "point of view", except when it doesn't. And in your case, it does. ;)

I tried very hard to help Ulrika understand the fact we were never discussing the theory of evolution. She continues to insist I couldn't understand her.

The entire discussion concerned ABIOGEGESIS, not evolution.

If she wants to talk about the evolution of spieces, she should start a thread about that.

What is sad is we, as adults, can't have a civil discussion without the need for a moderator.

What's sad is the amount of time that has elapsed since your last Sunday school visit, Memory :D

Actually, I don't think he's gone to Sunday school recently.

So... is CA trying to parody jesus freaks, like the church lady from SNL, or is he/she really like that? I can't tell the difference from his or her posts.

CA never parodies anything. They are true to life as a rule.

Boyo, don't MAKE me hit you with this purse!

(And be careful of our Chancey, too --- HE hits things with his cerebellum, and boy does it hurt!)
