Let's see.. what did I get for Christmas?

Family drama.. of the grand scale.

Nothing says drama like a borderline senile grandmother telling her daughter "I don't know you, get out of my face." completely out of the blue and slamming the door in her face.

So yeah, I'm hoping hot chocolate and a good ear to talk to will be a gift of sorts for her. Merry Chrismukkah everyone.

I made out ok -

Got a calf massager that I'm looking forward to using (No more begging for leg massages) :D

Clothes, clothes & more clothes, some cologne - and my first piece of Kitsch - a ceramic Moose!

I'm actually more proud about what I got for other people: I spent the last week building up a new PC for my sister - she's been running on a 233Mhz with 64MB of ram that I got her 6 or 7 years ago. Now if I can just convince her to get Broadband & try SL :)

And, I found some sweet diamond earrings for my Mom that I picked up for like 10% of the original price.

It was a good Christmas spending time with family :)

I had a very laid back Christmas this year, which I love. Everyone liked what I got them so that's even better. I received some art supplies, a huge book on cats (with pictures that make my fingers itch for a GOOD camera), a vacuum cleaner (someone is trying to tell me something lol), some lingerie, jewelry, some clothes and bath stuff. I also got a gift card to use at Hastings!

<snip>

I've gotten that gift many times. It's my least favorite Christmas gift. The worse part is you can't take it back, literally.

I got a 20 inch Apple Cinema Display monitor. It is beautiful. I can see a whole sim on my screen. I also got the Podcast Factory. It's so cool and it comes with a professional mic.

The best part was that everyone loved my gifts, which is almost as good as getting the
monitor. Note I said almost!

And I got a lot of neat stuff from my friends in SL. Thanks guys. Plus some stuff in WoW too. This has been a good year.

Ok I'll give a serious answer (I know, whats happening to me...)

I was extremely proud of my Mom this year, she decided that given all the crap going on in the world she didn't feel right spending the holiday giving each other things while people elsewhere in the world were suffering. So in the end what this means is that I got only a couple of small, needed, tangible gifts (a couple hoodies and some help with getting a new bed was everything I got from my entire family) and other than that they gave some money in my name to a very well respected charity.

Wow, doesn't the LCD make such a big difference? Those CRT's take up so much room and once you upgrade, you find a lot of space, plus a bunch of junk that got under and around the monitor. Congrats.

Believe me I applaud your mom for what she did. But gosh, there is always something going bad in the world. I like to think I enjoy myself for those who can't. I've had my share of hard times. Like the Christmas when I was 8 and all we got for the five of us was a Monopoly game. Or the one my stepfather got drunk and threw everyone out Christmas Eve and we had to pack everything up and go stay at my sister's one bedroom apt. Or the one where my then gf beat my face in and I couldn't go visit my family because I didn't want my brother to see and come start a fight with my gf and get killed because she was a Correctional officer and had a gun.

This year was the first year I didn't feel worry or drama or any hassles and I had it off, which was I hadn't had in over 7 years. So I am glad I celebrated and enjoyed it and maybe someone somewhere felt some of my joy.

Among other things, I got:

My first microwave
This wonderful fur stole that I can wear with everything
A great carved wooden mirror with two crescent moons (with faces) facing each other.

Very pleased :D

Hey I certainly didn't mean to imply that anybody should feel obligated to do anything like this, just that it kinda came out of nowhere and I thought it was a great idea. It didn't exactly go down easy with the older generation of our family either, but she didn't cave in. I agree, theres always bad shtuff going on, but all the more reason I was surprised and proud that she decided to break tradition and encourage others in our family to help people who needed it more than we needed new stuff.

With funds being a little scarce this year, my wife and I had decided not to exchange gifts with each other and only buy for the kids. So while she was sleeping, I lit all the candles I could find and threww a few sticks of wood into the fireplace and brought her downstairs and held her as I told her of all the many reasons I was lucky to have her for my wife, my lover and my best friend. It was one of the best days we had had in quite some time.

My husband and I decided the same thing Kazuo. After Katrina & Wilma we saw so many people losing their places and that had everything they own, right down to their soxs, just blown away. So we tried to help with that, so much of it was right here in our own community.

That said, I did get him a replacement for the swiss army knife that airport security took away from him and he got me a really cool wind up flash light so that I would never be without light during a hurricane. :)

edited to say that your gift Spinner Poutine is more precious and much warmer than all the diamonds in the world!

Two gift certificates from amazon.com
One gift certificate from giveanything.com
One gift certificate from barnesandnoble.com
Perfume.
Hawaiian coffee.
Cat salt and pepper shakers (my mom has gone a tad weird on me).
Some cash (now I have extra money to feed my shoe addiction, lol).
My neighbors having a domestic dispute.

All in all my Christmas was a nice one, except for the neighbors fighting all day. I am happy that my family got all their presents on time, when nothing was supposed to show up until after Christmas.
