I just noticed that I have a tooth coming in wayyy in the back, up on the top.

I thought my wisdom teeth were already in.

When do they come in.

And should I try the Hyland's Teething Tablets that I have to use on my kids? :D

Naw, it just gives you an excuse to become orally fixated.

:D

I guess the third one is coming in. I had thought that they were already done.
But running my tongue over it and the space left, it's going to be impacted :( And I noticed that the one on my upper left isn't in yet, so that one will be showing up eventually and will be impacted too.

Yay dental surgery.

I had an ear infection once that I swore was a toothache. That's all connected in there. Can you feel the tooth poking through? I would visit your GP first, its probably cheaper and easier to rule out that than to get and pay for an emergency dental visit.

On the other hand... I have had a tooth that was infected bad enough that it needed a root canal. If the pain is that severe, get it checked out right away. The antibiotics they put me on for that knocked it down nicely and I was able to live without extreme pain until the root canal was done.

As a RL Endodontist, I can tell you that it is very likely a wisdom tooth*. They can come in late in life, thus the name of them ("You don't get them until you're older/supposedly wiser).

While I dont think you'll need emergency surgery, you should get an appointement to have it checked out, and if it's impacted, as you suspect, it will need to be removed. In the meantime, I strongly recommend at least six Jack and Cokes every afternoon.

* The other possibility is that it's a tusk, and you're actually an elephant.

I can feel the tooth poking through. It doesn't hurt other than sore gums and I am avoiding chewing on that side. (I also burned the roof of my mouth on some hot food the other day, which is right near the sore spot)

There just doesn't seem to be enough room for them to come in, so that is why I am guessing it will be impacted. I don't need surgery immediately. It just started poking through and I am going to my normal dentist appointment the 23rd of March, so I shall find out then.

And Taco, thank you for the wonderful suggestion of 6 Jack & cokes a day. My husband will gladly drink them for me since I can't drink due to pregnancy and I also can't stand Jack. I know, something must be terribly wrong with me not to love JD.

I just don't like the thought of mouth surgery.

* I am beginning to look and feel like an elephant so that many very well be the case. :P

You missed out the third possibility, has Creamy been listening to The Osmonds or The Bee Gees. Its a proven medical fact that listening to these scarily toothy acts will in fact promote extra tooth growth in their listeners.

Therefore, I call for a ban on both these acts, and all their recordings should be burnt.

YUCK!! I can't believe you even suggested that I would listen to that crap!! I would gouge my ear drums out with a rusty spoon before subjecting myself to that.

It is my WISDOM tooth :P and I find it ironic that it shows up when I have been posting in these forums quite a bit. I must be learning from this place.

Wisdom tooth #3. The first two are in on both sides of my upper and lower gums. Just waiting on the upper right to finish and the upper left to make it's appearance. I webmd'd it last night.

I guess babies born to alcoholics are cute in a fetal alcohol syndromy way.

And that would explain quite a few things Siobhan, :D

Am I the only one who thinks that pregnant women are the sexiest thing since ramen noodles?

i had 2 molars come in when i was around 20 years old. they weren't wisdom teeth i was born without those, but they were just 2 on the top, in the back, they came in all the way, but since they didn't have a matching set on the bottom, they began to turn outward, like tusks, lol, and they were starting to mess up my cheeks, and i couldn't relly brush em all that well, so I went to the doctor, and he yanked them out, which was only semi-traumatic. the most disturbing thing though, was a lotta gum flesh came out with 'em, oigh. i still have the teeth too, lol, god their roots are so long! freaky. good luck to ya, and get some vicodin, that's always fun.

My wisdom teeth didn't fully emerge until I was in my mid 20's, they would flare up and settle down repeatedly for a number of years and was very uncomfortable.

I didn't get them pulled however, and I'm glad I still have them.
