11/10/05 - Second Life Down For Emergency Lovemaking

We have just kickedeveryone off of the forum due to a system-wide problem, possibly due to Resident forum post. Thank you for your patience, we are working on the problem and will post updates as they are available.

Gosh, you're funny.

Approximately 9 hours ago the forum was taken down due to a post in the General Forum which spewed cynicism at a victim and caused residents to reply to the thread, and waste 10 minutes of everyone's time. We are deploying an emergency lovemaking to prevent this type of bitterness and automatic skepticism of Linden Lab's intent on kicking a griefer in the future.

This means that the forum will be down for about 5 minutes, which is the amount of time it takes to make sweet, sweet love to the person responsible, bring them to the peak of Linden exstacy, and make them happy again. As you see, the forums are already back up.

Well I didn't actually laugh, but I smiled a little. I hope your 10 minutes reading some other thread that I shall not name feels not quite so wasted now. ^_^

The lovemaking is taking longer than expected. We will spare you the details but will attempt to hurry.

Seriously, though, Moopf, why don't you write an essay about the nuances of comedy? I mean, since you clearly think you're the voice of authority on what's funny and what isn't to each and every person on the boards, it'd be like hearing absolute truth from the mouth of God. Once it's done we can get the Lindens to force us to read it and then it will become absolute law, and anyone not agreeing with Moopf's opinion can be ridiculed and ostracized from the boards! Yes! I don't mind your criticism of my humor, but we have 3 possibilities:
1. You are sincerely insulted by my post, and would like me to address it to me so that I might stop my behavior in the future. In this case, the appropriate response would have been a private IM or a civil post asking me to remove it rather than making a personal attack.
2. You are trying to be funny, in which case, you lack any sort of originality in your humor.
3. Some combination of the two, in which case, you've failed twice in your intent.

I may or may not be funny, but you definitely are a jerk.

My answer obviously excluded the option of telepathy. Oh and osmosis. I have no opinion on your comedic adventures through either of those channels. Oh and channelling as well! I've heard some funny psychics in my time, let me tell you. Any others? I do apologise and will be clearer in future.

And you started that thread as a poke at another person's thread, so it was nasty, pointed parody. You'd better be funny in those circumstances as the stakes are higher, and the chances the audience won't like it greater.

I've never thought I was very funny but I know funny when I see it and I haven't seen it today. You may be amazingly funny, I was just passing judgement on a public joke (you did want people to read it, didn't you? Sorry, maybe I misunderstood you and you didn't actually want anybody to read it?) that I thought wasn't very good. Sorry, you win some, you lose some.

As for being a jerk. Well, we're all jerks to some people, aren't we at the end of the day. Generally those people are also jerks.
