11/10/05 - Second Life Down For Emergency Lovemaking
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have just kickedeveryone off of the forum due to a system-wide problem, possibly due to Resident forum post. Thank you for your patience, we are working on the problem and will post updates as they are available.

Approximately 9 hours ago the forum was taken down due to a post in the General Forum which spewed cynicism at a victim and caused residents to reply to the thread, and waste 10 minutes of everyone's time. We are deploying an emergency lovemaking to prevent this type of bitterness and automatic skepticism of Linden Lab's intent on kicking a griefer in the future.

This means that the forum will be down for about 5 minutes, which is the amount of time it takes to make sweet, sweet love to the person responsible, bring them to the peak of Linden exstacy, and make them happy again. As you see, the forums are already back up.

Well I didn't actually laugh, but I smiled a little. I hope your 10 minutes reading some other thread that I shall not name feels not quite so wasted now. ^_^

Oh my! You're quick! ^_^

UPDATE:
The lovemaking is taking longer than expected. We will spare you the details but will attempt to hurry.

The forum is up again, fo' real! - please note, the login will probably be slow as everyone logs back in to read the ridiculous "OMG LL SUXX" threads. Please refrain from posting to them. Thank you for your patience.

If you were made love to tonight and you do not recognize the partner (may have a random name) - please delete the IM conversation immediately and empty your trash. Do NOT post this person's name! This person may also arrive in your Lost and Found folder.

Anytime. My well-respected compliments were obviously a hit with quite a few people judging from the IMs and PMs I got :) Keep on trucking Hiro :)

Well... I had (("quite a few people" squared) + 1) IM and PM me. So there.

Seriously, though, Moopf, why don't you write an essay about the nuances of comedy? I mean, since you clearly think you're the voice of authority on what's funny and what isn't to each and every person on the boards, it'd be like hearing absolute truth from the mouth of God. Once it's done we can get the Lindens to force us to read it and then it will become absolute law, and anyone not agreeing with Moopf's opinion can be ridiculed and ostracized from the boards! Yes! Brilliant!

Dear Taco ,

It's far less original to be the "Me Too " than to be the first unoriginal "Big Dog".

Sincerely,

Didn't say I was the voice of authority, I just thought that your attempt was pretty lame, that's all. Sorry, did I touch a nerve? You seem awfully hurt by this. Stand-up comedy is obviously not for you if this is the way you deal with hecklers!

There, there, mummy make it all better.

Actually you gave me one of my biggest laughs the other day on a birthday thread for billy-9-lives, but then you went and edited it away! You gave the gift of laughter, then you snatched it away again. Tut tut :)

Yes and of course your parody of a thread today was entirely, one-of-a-kind original. It was, wasn't it?

Hiro "please don't heckle me" Pendragon has a nice ring to it.

That would be making the assumption that all communication must be written or vocal.

No, clearly your self-righteous tone spoke for itself.

I just thought that your attempt was pretty lame, that's all.

And you felt you needed to share it because you're the authority on comedy. Check.

Man, such an obvious reply. Bait with insults, then when someone responds, pull out the old "touched a nerve" punchline. If you're going to be a jerk on the forums, please be a tad bit original.

Oh, SNAP! There's one no one's ever heard!

I don't mind your criticism of my humor, but we have 3 possibilities:
1. You are sincerely insulted by my post, and would like me to address it to me so that I might stop my behavior in the future. In this case, the appropriate response would have been a private IM or a civil post asking me to remove it rather than making a personal attack.
2. You are trying to be funny, in which case, you lack any sort of originality in your humor.
3. Some combination of the two, in which case, you've failed twice in your intent.

I may or may not be funny, but you definitely are a jerk.

My answer obviously excluded the option of telepathy. Oh and osmosis. I have no opinion on your comedic adventures through either of those channels. Oh and channelling as well! I've heard some funny psychics in my time, let me tell you. Any others? I do apologise and will be clearer in future.

Sorry, this is Hiro Pendragon talking is it? Hiro "self-righteous indignation personified" Pendragon? I'm getting the hang of these nicknames, quite pleased with that one.

No, I felt the need to share it because I thought your attempt was cack. There is a difference. I may be no comedian, but I know good comedy when I see it. Parody's an art, and you don't got it, at least not today ;)

And you started that thread as a poke at another person's thread, so it was nasty, pointed parody. You'd better be funny in those circumstances as the stakes are higher, and the chances the audience won't like it greater.

I'm just saying what I see, Hiro. Just saying what I see. I do wish you'd be original as well, your parody today wasn't. Or funny. Did I say that already?

1. Insulted? No! I just thought it was a crap parody. And a cheap shot at somebody else. Can you promise to keep your jokes and parodies to private IMs in future please? I'd find that very civil of you.

2. No, I wouldn't dare try to be funny whilst telling somebody else their attempt wasn't at all good!

I've never thought I was very funny but I know funny when I see it and I haven't seen it today. You may be amazingly funny, I was just passing judgement on a public joke (you did want people to read it, didn't you? Sorry, maybe I misunderstood you and you didn't actually want anybody to read it?) that I thought wasn't very good. Sorry, you win some, you lose some.

As for being a jerk. Well, we're all jerks to some people, aren't we at the end of the day. Generally those people are also jerks.

*stretches his arms out in front and cracks his knuckles*

It's time for another game of "Translate the bullcrap".

Our next player is Moopf, who is really piling it high today. Let's see what's he's really saying!
