I'm sure we all genraly want the forums to be a venue for open discussion, and the mods aren't trying to be repressive, as long as you're laying off personal attacks and such it's better to discuss problems openly.


We love ingrid, thats why we openly discuss her bad habits, like her constant flatulance and hatred of wu's dog. its not about personal attacks, its about open communication.

If you say so, I'll take your word for it. The drama in the ResMod forum is about naming names and that's the context in which this post was brought to my attention, which is why I brought up my concearns.

As to the rest, I don't think being in Off Topic will put any sort of damper on the fun. Moving there now. :)

Folks I know this joke thread might have something to do with the current drama in the ResMod forum (correct me if I'm wrong), but not much discussion about the forums or SL is actualy taking place here. It will probably be booted to off-topic shortly if it continues as such.

And speeking as non-authortarian as I can (take this as my opinion, not a decree from a ResMod and not supported by any LL policy), threads like this really don't do anything to advance the discussion of a problem or improve the atmosphere of the forums. I'm sure we all genraly want the forums to be a venue for open discussion, and the mods aren't trying to be repressive, as long as you're laying off personal attacks and such it's better to discuss problems openly. Joking around is one thing, but IMO there's often someone or something at the butt of these joke threads who probably isn't finding things too funny.


i posted this in notices and someone moved it to the general forum! now it's moved again! :confused:

I think it falls squarely to the fact there's been a group of residents designated as the 'police', and there's a group of residents that this new institution very much rubs the wrong way.

I read all the threads and I see the resmods cracking down on stuff in really asinine ways. I see other residents goading and pushing, trying to see how far the resmods can be shoved.

It is not a good situation. It is causing grief all around and will soon reach a boiling point. I expect to soon see either alot of bannings, or the complete closure of the forums.

This is what resident-based government gets us.
