I'd name it "Ubik", for no other particular reason than I think 1) it's kewl and 2) Philip K. Dick deserves to have a planet named after his work, for all his extracosmos trippin' activity.

I think Arthur C Clarke called it Persephone. Not a good name. Sounds like a Nissan subcompact to me. I would object to naming it Pesephone on different grounds. Yes, she was a minor goddess, which fits with naming planets after greek gods, but her role is associated with the seasons. More specifically, spring with her return from Hades and autumn with her departure. Naming a remote cold planet after the personifcation of spring doesn't fit. I would suggest Dionysus. Since the planetary status of Pluto as well as the tenth planet are still questionalbe, choosing a name at this time would be quite indulgent and so fits with my proposed name. _____________________

Sorry to necropost, but it's MY topic so bleah.
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/060201_tenth_planet.html Getting closer to naming it... now they're saying that either it IS a planet or else Pluto is NOT a planet. |

Simple solution: Auction the naming rights on eBay. Our 21st Century lack of imagination will most likely wind up naming the 10th planet GoDaddy.

It is obvious that it is Solaris. Please see the 1972 Russian movie of the same name for clarification.
