Will environmentalists find something wrong with alternative fuels, too?

Put huge chicken wire mesh all the way around the blades! Letting the wind get to the blades, but not the birds! Now where can we get 100 tons of chicken wire... :p

Meh, it's too late to stop global warming now anyway, so why bother building them at all? What they should do is build nuclear power plants which are totally clean in the short run. Since we don't have to worry about the long run anymore they are the perfect solution.

Ever think the birds arent flying into them? Maybe they're doing like kids do, & trying to talk into the blades just to hear their voices make that funny sound? :D

Will the GOP and the Oil Industry only support "alternative" fuels that are difficult to produce and easy to commoditize?

They aren't going to support wind, you can't sell wind on the commodities market. You can't take bribes, oops I meant campaign contributions, from people who sell wind. They'll support corn based ethanol, difficult to produce and ship, and coal based fuels. Sugar based ethanol, easily produced, gets a hefty $.50 a gallon import tax and with the artificially high price of sugar in the US (almost 2X the global market price) it wouldn't be "cost effective" to produce sugar ethanol.

Neither the "energy" industry (read fossil fuel industry) nor the two political parties in Washington are going to support energy sources that overturn decades of profits and political influence buying.

Now if Al Gore would have won, it would be a different story.

"you can't sell wind on the commodities market"

Wind farms don't produce wind. They produce electricity. You can sell electricity on the commodities market.

"Neither the "energy" industry (read fossil fuel industry) nor the two political parties in Washington are going to support energy sources that overturn decades of profits and political influence buying."

They will when the oil runs out. They'll switch if they want to stick around. And those who invest earliest will profit in the long run.

Musuko.
