What do Moderates do? The same as everyone else, but half as much?

I'd rather see a truth party whereby leaders/members;

Swear to not accept lobbyist funding (or bribes for that matter).
Be held accountable for what they promise versus what they say and do.
Be held accountable for what they say one day versus what they say the next.
Be qualified to run for a position (i.e. an accountant must be qualified to handle your books honestly, so too should government officials) before running for a position.

These are pretty unreasonable expectations I guess, but I think we'd have a better system if politicians at least made some attempt at pretending to try at any of those.

Is there room for middle ground? Or is it all or nothing, just in moderation? :)

I agree - regardless of party or political leaning, I too would like to see these simple things.

This would however, require some responsibility and restraint on behalf of the American public also.

One of the reasons that we have so many political dummies is that no one with any brains is willing to run for office and have the press roll back and expose every mistake they have ever made since they were seventeen years old. The American public feeds on this "National Enquire" like news, like zombies on feed on brains.

It's sad and as long as we keep holding politicians to standards that make no sense (we don't care what your qualifications are, just look good [very important], stay married, don't be gay, go to church once in awhile, don't do drugs or if you do, make sure no one knows about it and play ball with all the other politicians), we can expect more of the same.

:(
