I used to think that I could not go on And life was nothing but an awful song But now I know the meaning of true love I'm leaning on the everlasting arms
If I can see it, then I can do it If I just believe it, there's nothing to it
[1] - I believe I can fly I believe I can touch the sky I think about it every night and day Spread my wings and fly away I believe I can soar I see me running through that open door I believe I can fly I believe I can fly I believe I can fly
See I was on the verge of breaking down Sometimes silence can seem so loud There are miracles in life I must achieve But first I know it starts inside of me, oh
If I can see it, then I can do it If I just believe it, there's nothing to it
[Repeat 1]
Hey, cuz I believe in me, oh
If I can see it, then I can do it If I just believe it, there's nothing to it
[Repeat 1]
Hey, if I just spread my wings I can fly I can fly I can fly, hey If I just spread my wings I can fly Fly-eye-eye

I believe that at least 90% of the humans on earth steadfastly believe in complete nonsense.
We can't *all* be right, now can we?
I honestly think there is a 90% chance I am *also* among the nonsense-believers.
So how might the ending go?
Father of Jesus: looks grim; maybe I could focus on 'forgiveness' during the exit interview.
Brahma: I've always thought it might be fun to be a cat or dog anyway.
Allah: I'm in a bit of trouble here. But then, 96 women around for *eternity*? Ah, no.
Yahweh: Again, not good, but likely I could cut some kind of deal.
Seth: His powers seem limited, but perhaps he could keep my head alive in a fishbowl.
Ulrika: If she's right, well, there you go then. Or... not go, as it were.
Buddha: I surrendered most desire years ago - when at the end, I may truly not care.
Agnostic masses: Come now, you are mostly atheists now aren't you? Confess your faith!
Do not look for cosmic wisdom from me. Unlike the rest, I haven't any.

It might have been the pizza rolls I just ate, but for some reason I feel like taking this question seriously today. I'm agnostic - I think there probably is something out there we don't understand in terms of a higher power, but I don't think organized religion has hit on it yet. I have problems with organized anything, especially religion, but that's another story. All I can say with any certainty is this: when my father passed away unexpectedly, I took off to a local park and started to talk to him. I asked him if everything was ok. The answer I got from him was "Look around you," so I did - I saw trees, birds, blue sky, kids playing on the playground, the whole of nature. And he said "This is what I'm part of now - how could it not be OK?" So I stopped mourning his death and instead understood I was crying for myself and my loss of having him in my life. I don't know if God, Yahweh, Buddha, Allah or Jesus Jones greeted him at the end of the tunnel, and it really doesn't matter, because whatever it is is the way things are, and its rather silly to fight about what name you put on it. OK, I'm going to stop eating pizza rolls now.

From: Kevn Klein It may be true we are all animals, but only man can destroy the entire Earth. Humans are the only animals with the ability destroy all life as we know it, scary thought, seeing who hold their finger on the button.... I'm glad God is in control and love is the answer... well... that's what I believe anyhow Again, man is not special. Things like meteors are just as dangerous for the earth as man is. There are other species of creatures that can wipe out vast populations as well, ecspecially the ones with few cells. Even if we blow the earth into the new asteroid belt, who are we to say that Man was the life form that mattered in the universe in the first place.

"Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. "
Crash Davis in Bull Durham.
Just about sums it up.

From: Liona Clio <<<...100 years later...>>> Ulrika is dead. ~God~ I want my goddamned cliche back!!!! ~The Lost Prophecies of Nietzsche~ Woot! Thanks for making me laugh, Liona. As for me: - I believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate and that his spirit still lives; and that he is the alpha and the omega, the one who was and is and is to come.
- I believe that the Christian religion is 90% human-power politics and 10% pure compassion.
- I believe that religion is not the same as faith or spirituality.
- I believe that the substance of spirit cannot be tested by empirical methodology.
- I believe that string, chaos, fractal and QM theories all indicate that there is way more that we don't know than we do know.
- I believe that, after the age of 18, humans rarely change their beliefs, even when they can be proved incorrect.
- I believe that the meaning of life is, as already stated in another thread, to love and be loved.

From: someone Man is the only animal that can willfully destroy all life as we know it. I believe this is an assumption. We haven't even identified all the animals on earth, much less made an assessment of their willfull abilities. I also believe that we shouldn't ignore the very real threat posed by finches. Sure they seem tiny and harmless, but if you get a million finches together, well that could be scary and apocolyptic. Have you even seen a million finches all grouped together? I haven't but I've seen two finches and I have an active imagination. From: someone Jsecure, I think you need to ask yourself WWJD. What Would Jenna Drink? I believe there is no God. I believe we are responsible for ourselves and accountable to the finches.
