Now you just need to get a really big cat breed so that you can collect sheep or similarly large animals. Domesticated lion, anyone?

Just try to teach a dog to use the toilet sometime. Cats can even be taught to flush when they are finished doing their business

That's why you pick the lab from the litter that sleeps the most -- it'll be the most sedate. It'll still be excitable and try to lick any visitors to death, but will be more low-key. But Keknehv my problem IS that my cousin's dogs try to lick me to death! Off on a slight detour: Rottweilers Met my first Rott some months back, he was part of the house my dad bought (previous owners couldn't bring him). Rotts are scary because their faces never betray their feelings. Compared to most other breeds it took me very long to learn to read the Rott because of that. The usual cues were more subtle. In the end it turned out his cut tail was a good indicator of his disposition and that he was actually friendlier than his German Shepherd companion. |

The other cat is absolutely insane. He meows at things, actually has an "I'm not happy" meow. Both the cats are pretty smart though. I once had an insane cat, who had an irritable miaow. _____________________

You give a dog food and shelter and care for it when it is sick, and it'll think you are a god.

In a way I feel they are ... sorta. I like German Shepherds ... Labs on the other hand are also not aware they're so big but they remain forever thinking they're puppies. They're playful overload. SO very true! It wasnt till my sister's dog got to be around 9 or 10 that it started realizing that running & jumping onto your lap was NOT an option. Plus it's hips started to go outta whack, as happens in larger breeds. When Labs are young they love to chew things too, which is also annoying. We've lost steel boots, telephones, plaster molds, books, shoes, just about anything, to that dog. Since my sister had my niece 2 yrs ago the dog & her husband's dog both feel a bit "left out", so when they're here for a weekend I give those dogs tons of attention. They just love it! ![]() |

I have been pondering getting a kitty, one of these days, since I would rather have a backyard if I ever got a dog. As far as kitties go, I don't know. What's a cute breed? Ever see a Devon Rex? Reminds me of a Gremlin. So CUTE!!! And they're perfect for people with allergies!! Only downside is, they're not cheap cats. |

All I know is that cats bury their droppings in the litterbox. While dogs like to dig up cat droppings and eat them. I'll leave the judgement of smartness to others. actually dogs crap far away from where they sleep and spend most of their time unless they are forced to i always hear of talking dog but not cats _____________________

Declawed Tabby Cat Scares Bear From Back Yard
POSTED: 9:57 am EDT June 9, 2006 WEST MILFORD, N.J. -- At least one bear doesn't want to know Jack. Jack is a 10-year-old orange-and-white tabby in West Milford, N.J. And when the cat spotted the bear in a neighbor's yard earlier this week, the clawless kitty let the bear know who's boss. The bear scurried up a tree and eyed the cat for 10 to 15 minutes, while Jack stared and hissed from the ground. The bruin inched its way down before jumping off and running away. But Jack chased the bear into the brush and up another tree. That's when Jack's owner realized what was happening and called her cat. The bear took off as Jack rubbed up against its owner and the neighbors. Jack's owner, Donna Dickey, told The Star-Ledger of Newark Jack considers the area his turf and doesn't want anyone in his yard. Copyright 2006 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved. The smartest dog I have seen hides in a corner all day after being yelled at and does not repeat whatever he got yelled at for. He also can search for an item that smells like some other item.
The smartest cat I have ever seen responds to human gestures. If you point, he looks at whatever you point at, not at the tip of the finger like most dogs do. If you clap your hand against a horizontal surface, he comes there and sits at that location. Also he meows when he sees a familiar face, probably his emulation of a human "hello". The way I see it, cats are smarter but dogs really want to impress their masters. |

My cat tried to save my life!!! (I love this story) Several years ago I got a kidney stone and went in for surgery. Not the new lithotripsy kind, but the old roter rooter kind. When I got home, I was a mess. Miserable and in a lot of pain. I stank of blood, anteseptics and anesthesia. My ex-wife plopped me on the sofa to rest and get me something to drink. My cat jumped on me and as soon as she smelled me she got this crazy look on her face and BOLTED out the window running outside. We though she was just frightened. My ex closed the window because it was getting cold and brought me some water and started making some soup. A few minutes later we heard a loud banging on the window. Usually Katie (my cat) scratches on the window to be let in, but now she was banging loudly! My ex opened the window and in jumped Katie. My ex started screaming. Katie ran into the living room and jumped on my chest and dropped a really big rat on me. A big one! And not even the slightest mark on it and still warm and meowed at me pathetically. She saw I was hurting and sick and went to get me something to eat!!! My cat tried to save my life. A great story. I hope you did the honorable thing, and bit the rat's head off._____________________

AH! I just noticed something in some posts. People refer to the dog's owner as it's "Master". You never hear someone say they're a cat's Master.
You dont become the cat's "master". It becomes YOUR "master". Also try this: Go on vacation for 1 week. Leave out several bowls of food & water for a dog or a cat. Come back and you find: 1. The dog immediately ate all the bowls of food, drank all the water, all on the first day. It is now starving. Has also made a mess of your entire house since no one was there to leave it out. 2. The cat still has a few bowls of food & water left. It just needs a litter box change. The cat also looks at you like "Oh. You left? Well, Now that your back, pet me damnit!" Purring ensues. |

Cats gave us violin strings for a long time. And tennis racquet strings. Where would Wimbledon be without cats? |
