"I'm rather sick of watching people die because of these lies. Darfur, Chechnya, Iraq, Palestine, etc, etc... I don't know what to do about it. But the first thing I am going to do is stop being afraid to call out the liars. Label me an anti-Semite, anti-Muslim, anti-Russian, anti-American. I Don't Care. Then I'm going to raise my standards. If the Jews, Muslims, Christians and Hindus down the freaking street can live in peace, the rest of the world has no fucking excuse. None."

"BAGHDAD, Iraq - Gunmen kidnapped the chairman of Iraq’s Olympic committee and at least 30 others Saturday in a brazen daylight raid on a sports conference in the heart of Baghdad. Armed clashes erupted elsewhere across the capital.–Parliament extended the national state of emergency as at least 27 people — including two American soldiers — were killed in sectarian or insurgency-related violence…"

Queen - Is This The World We Created

Just look at all those hungry mouths we have to feed
Take a look at all the suffering we breed
So many lonely faces scattered all around
Searching for what they need

Is this the world we created? What did we do it for?
Is this the world we invaded, against the law?
So it seems in the end, Is this what we're all living for today?
The world that we created

You know that every day a helpless child is born
Who needs some loving care inside a happy home
Somewhere a wealthy man is sitting on his throne
Waiting for life to go by

Is this the world we created? We made it on our own
Is this the world we devastated, right to the bone?
If there's a God in the sky looking down
What can he think of what we've done
To the world that He created?

"Former President George Bush and his wife, Barbara, were among the mourners Wednesday at the funeral of Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay. Lay’s funeral drew some of the high-profile guests who were close to him before he was convicted in May of fraud and conspiracy for lying to investors and the public about the energy company’s financial health before it collapsed in 2001."

Rush (yes, RUSH!!;) - Resist

I can learn to resist
Anything but temptation,
I can learn to co-exist
With anything but pain

I can learn to compromise
Anything but my desires,
I can learn to get along
With all the things I can't explain

I can learn to resist
Anything but frustration,
I can learn to persist
With anything but aiming low

I can learn to close my eyes
To anything but injustice,
I can learn to get along
With all the things I dont know

You can surrender
Without a prayer,
But never really pray
Pray without surrender

You can fight
Without ever winning,
But never ever win
Without a fight.

"That a few reckless individuals within the current administration betrayed that trust has been a grave disappointment to every patriotic American. Joe and I have filed this action with heavy hearts but with a renewed sense of purpose. Thank you for taking the time to put this list together. I visited most of the links (although DailyKos is down right now) and enjoyed the lyrics. It felt like a forum version of "Democracy Now!". :)

I've also added Crooks and Liars to my list of pages I will visit daily.

It's never too early. Large groups of people sold all their worldly belongings and stood on hills to await the end of times on Jan 1, 1000.

I guess they'd still be waiting if they hadn't croaked.

ooohhhh ty :)

been a strange week, all around - feeling frustrated in more ways than usual, lol ;) listening to old punk, watching the world burn, and hearing person after person talking like schoolchildren - "they started it!" "no, -they- started it! waaaahhhh..."

don't think peace, don't talk peace... don't get peace.

and then, strange to come across those two lyrics... both thanks to my kick-ass county public library and their large collection of music/live concert dv's. 'live aid 1985' - omg, i'd forgotten how much hairspray was used in the eighties...

but - o.m.G, sooo worth watching just for live queen. freddy was such a performer, so comfortable in front of a viewing audience of millions - was it even billion(s) as geldof quips once? amazing. i wish the whole thing had just been one huge queen show...

All time fave band.

I tend to like anyone that quotes Rush lyrics.

"They shoot without shame
In the name of a piece of dirt
For a change of accent
Or the color of your shirt
Better the pride that resides
In a citizen of the world
Than the pride that divides
When a colorful rag is unfurled"

From the song - "Territories" Album = "Power Windows"

Hopefully all this long distance electronic relationship development and cultural exchange will some day help
future humans call themselves "citizens of the world"!

Rush = def smart rock. :)

Rush
07-17-2006 16:21
http://www.rush.com

A rock band that started in the late 70's I read that they're original inspiration was Led Zeppelin.

Yet especially with the addition of Neil Peart who is the drummer and incredible lyricist, they did a series of albums
with lyrics that gave them a loosely interpreted monikor
of "smart rock" by the average intelligence masses.

Having said that, how do I insert a clickable link in either my
post or my sig? :)

bands like
Creedance Clearwater Revival
Lynard Skynard
.38 Special
Eagles
Almond Brothers
Three Dog Night

lol!!! :) well, so am i now;) and so is rush now, too! :) incredibly professional musicians... not everybody's cup of proverbial tea, by a long shot. but the 'r30' live concert dvd is quite fun, if you're looking for your first exposure. i now wish i'd caught that tour... and don't miss on the second disc an old clip of them performing 'la villa stragianto' - i think maybe one of the finest pieces ever to fuse art/prog-rock, arena rock and jazz fusion...

CCR was from Cali but got thier style for "swamp music" which is why I call them "Southern Fried Rock"

as for the Skynard fans young and old. They are currently on tour with 3 Doors Down. *glances at tickets* even though roughly half the band is dead and gone, they still kick ass. :D

lol!! well, the who's going back out too - bassist found dead with a noseful of coke and a couple of hookers... (well, the hookers weren't in his nose;)

i can hear bill hicks screaming from his grave, "fuck freebird!!" - but i guess this time, calls for the song would be justified. :) are ya gonna yell for it? i once went with a friend on a free ticket to see the alman bros. at an outdoor ampitheater - a fine, smokey, relaxing night of southern jamrock under the stars... :)

wow, that rush site is kewl - love the 'fan reviews'... "As we walked further I caught a glimpse of Neil's drumset and I felt my heart skip a beat. I stared at the set, the magnificent gold plating glowed in contrast to the deep, dark shells." hehehe!!:)
