no, i'm not kidding! not only this, but he seems like a potentially GOOD candidate! and not just because he was on SNL so many times.. lol. taken from the bottom of his biography: From: someone Now, more active than ever, Christopher Walken has realized that the state of his country is in disarray, and the politicians in charge care less for the citizens they serve and more about fattening their resumes and campaign chests. Having residences both in rural Connecticut and upper-west Manhattan, he sees that all walks of life are becoming disgruntled and apathetic towards the American government, and feels a duty, as a child of the American public, to restore the peace, prosperity, and greatness of the United States. The Official Homepage of the Walken 2008 Campaign i just may register to vote this time around!

I thought you have to be born in the U.S. to be president. I don't think he was.
Edit to say - I'm wrong. Born: 31 March 1943 New York, New York, USA

"What is Mr. Walken's party affiliation? Mr. Walken believes that voters should vote based on the candidates' platforms, not their party affiliation. At this early stage, we are not affiliated with any political party, nor do we plan to be.."

Angel, why would that quote upset you? that's one of the reasons i like him!
seriously, do you really want to be a slave to the Republicrats? Democralicans? whatever you call them, either one is just as bad as the other. both are driven by power and money, neither one is genuinely concerned about you or me.
his message is a strong one.. party affiliation really isn't what matters.. the platform is what we should be looking at. not what does the party tell you they stand for, but what does the candidate personally believe? what will s/he do for America?
although, it also mentions that if a party decides to offer to back him that he may accept it. i'm assuming that means a party that will work with him and not try to mold his platform to their ideals.
his non-affiliation is not a weakness, it's a strength.

Absolutely freakin' brilliant! One of those "why didn't this ever occur to me?" ideas. A patented President Christopher Walken off-the-wall State-of-the-Union address every year for eight years. And a bonus of two Inaugural Walken-rants. Plus numerous soliloquies to the press about the most surprising and disturbing things. I would always check to see if he was wearing his watch on his wrist....

i still think it's a hoax. would love it if it wasn't, just for the entertainment value. it's not like he would actually get elected. but damn, it would be great to have the continental as president.

checking now..

Anya, you might be right. i was just looking up some info and it might be a hoax coming out of gen[m]ay (General Mayhem), or it might be real with some people saying it's a hoax; thereby, making the rumors of it being a hoax, a hoax.
getting confusing.. if i find something definitive, then i'll return and post what i dig up.

I don't think this is so crazy (after all we've already had at least one President who was previously a professional actor, not to mention the current govenor of California). Nor do I think that not being "professional politician" makes him less qualified. If anything, the fact that he is not a politician is a plus to me. I'm sick of both parties and don't feel that I am adequately represented by either. Right now he hasn't said enough specifically about the issues (like how we would (or if we should) pull out of Iraq, or improve the education system, or plug the "outsourcing" hole, etc.). I'd need to know those things first, but he definately merits watching. I doubt that he's owned Haliburton, big oil or anyone else and that says a lot. .

ok, i retract my excitement and replace it with dismay. From: someone IMDb posted this today in the news archive:
Actor Christopher Walken is caught in the midst of reports he plans to vie for the role of US president. While the eccentric screen star plays a member of the White House in the hit comedy Wedding Crashers, rumors have been circulating that he is aiming to take over George W. Bush's job in 2008. A website for Walken's "campaign" has even been set up at Walken2008.com, but a representative for the actor insists the story is false, stating, "It's one-hundred per cent not true. (It) sounds like someone got a little too excited over his role as Secretary Of The Treasury in Wedding Crashers and now they want to make him president." also, from several sources: oh well.. guess we'll have to just hope we can get a candidate in the White House who really is for the people.. maybe someday.. when pigs fly?

Oh well - for a minute it was nice to dream that someone would run for U.S. office outside of their own private monetary interests.

I've always found him to be REALLY creepy. Creepy could be good. If he was President on 9/11, I'm sure Osama would have woke up with a dead camel head in his bed the next morning. After 30 straight days of weird stuff, Osama would have flown to DC and personally surrendered at the White House.

From: Pol Tabla Ever see Pennies from Heaven? His striptease/tapdance easily qualifies him for the Presidency. Then there was the whole Fatboy Slim "Weapon of Choice" video. Walken can really dance! Lest we forget, though, his character from Pulp Fiction was uber creepy. That watch was where? If Walken makes a showing (I am totally noncommital), he might find running mates in Crispin Glover, Dennis Hopper, Jennifer Jason Leigh, or Steve Buscemi. (actually, I like most of the work from these actors)

his non-affiliation is not a weakness, it's a strength. If he were running.. No I personally have no problem with him being independent and I would even consider voting for him even though he has never held office of any kind and he is an actor. I mean look how well Reaganomics worked out. (yes this is sarcasm) It's mostly that without the deep pockets and connections of the 2 main parties it gets nearly impossible to swing the votes. Walken is just too cool to be president anyway. Fav Walken films - King of New York, True Romance, and The Deer Hunter traumatized me once

Walken's publicist denied that the actor is running for president. Walken, however, told a reporter earlier this week that the idea was "mahvelous", but the campaign slogan - "It's time to put America back on track" - was "idiotic". When asked what sort of slogan he preferred, he suggested: "Liberty is my weapon of choice."

If he's just realizing those things now, he's definitely NOT alert or smart enough to lead anything!
