Forum lameness is dependant upon which Resmod is reading the abuse report filed on your post.

Hmm J-Wu, judging by the two posts you picked above, and looking at the current state of the forums, what you're saying is that we need more templated, automated responses and more abstract theoretical patterns, correct?

honestly, as a ResMod, i think this would be one of those threads that gets moved to Off Topic..

BUT, i'm too amused right now to do so and i'm sure another moderator will do something along those lines anyway. (ok, so it's the morning, i'm tired and just having fun at the moment)

Ya. I don't want to give the ResMod's a hard time because I know Cybin's heart is in the right place here. But if I were a ResMod I would live by these two rules:

1. Moderate the forums consistently.
2. When blatantly ignoring rule #1, don't ANNOUNCE that I am ignoring rule #1.

Remember that some troll out there is going to bookmark this thread as debate ammo for the next time THEIR thread is cornfielded in 30 seconds or less. Sadly, the troll will be right.

However, since the two threads linked and the original post are about forums in general and not specific to SL, I am going to move this over to off-topic for further discussion.

anyone who commented about my lack of moderating this thread all have a valid point.

i apologize for my lack of consistency and agree that i should have done what was appropriate in the first place. i will attempt to follow the guidelines without aberration from here on out and if i'm not in a proper state of mind to moderate, i will avoid posting where moderation is needed.

alas, like i said, i was tired and didn't feel my moderation would have been clear headed enough to consider myself doing my job properly. to add to my hesistance to moderate, i was getting ready to walk out the door for several hours of errand running and prefer to be able to concentrate on what i'm doing. it appears i also worded myself poorly and should have been more pointed about my state of mind and less about having fun.

Zsu, you bring up a good point. two actually. meta-discussion are now officially to be considered General and no, there wasn't a pointed discussion about this ruling (that i know of anyway) with ResMods. although, now that i'm aware of it, it will help when deciding what goes where.

Pendari, thank you for moving this. while meta-discussions are meant for General now, this does appear to be more of an Off Topic nature due to the nature of the threads that were linked to. maybe we'll need to clarify if satire about the forums is considered as a meta-discussion or as Off Topic commentary.

either way, thanks to Pen for helping out on this and thanks to everyone else who is helping to keep me in line.

cybin, you don't need to apologize. moderators must be moderate.

also, you must always remember the golden rule: do not moderate sim owners. it's part of the concierge bonus.

I object to the assumption that Forum Arguments evolve. I hold that it is entirely possible that all Forum Arguments are designed from the start to be stupid. As evidence of this I would like to point out that virtually all Forum Arguments share the same outcome. Evolutionists seem to think that this is a case of convergent evolution, but I sincerely believe that it is due to Stupid Design (SD).
