Hmm, interesting thread. Ironically, two of my Christmas gifts to my boyfriend came from that site, they do really good work.
Yes, it's a bit weird, but it's not like it hurts anyone, so what's the big deal? |

Some things I have learned recently in the SL forums:
1. what a 'goatse' is 2. what a sling does 3. what teabagging is (OK, it wasn't the forums--I was in-world when it came up) 4. what age-play is 5. And, finally, this thread presented ideas I didn't even know *existed* (of course, all of this information is available on wikipedia--if one knows where to look) Am I the only hopelessly naive and astoundingly ignorant one here? _____________________

I got curious and looked up what sort of mind set one needs to have to wrap their minds around infantalism.
Apparently people who have this condition have suffered in some various way as a child and need therapy to work through this. When we make fun of them the guilt and humiliation caused by our not understand only compounds their...oh I don't know I forget now. BUT if you want to know it's out there on the web too. What I gathered is it is not so much a fetish as it is a condition that needs therapy. So , now I feel like an big meanie for making fun of mentally ill people. I'm sorry. This all is way WAY WAY more than I bargained for when I was just searching out cute baby animal pictures for inspiration on a build. Here is one place I got information about people afflicted with the infantilism condition. http://www.dpf.com/theory.html |

I would just like to add:
I am not shocked or appalled that such things exist; rather, I am simply stunned by the scope of my own ignorance in having reached adulthood and not having known anything about them. Please do not think that I pass judgement here; I am glad that alternate forms of (safe, sane, consensual) sexual expression are part of these worlds. Here is a question: Why do we feel "repulsed" or "revulsion" when it comes to sexual practice that stands outside our own experience? _____________________

I got curious and looked up what sort of mind set one needs to have to wrap their minds around infantalism. Apparently people who have this condition have suffered in some various way as a child and need therapy to work through this. While sometimes accurate for certain individuals, it's certainly not true in all cases. Try to keep in mind who's writing these 'theories'. I know the one you linked to, it's been around for a long time, written by someone whom I believe got a little too 'involved' and let it overtake their life. There are going to be a million different 'theories' out there, while it might be accurate for the author, it cannot be used to broadly paint the entire community with. Remember, homosexuality used to be considered a mental disease at one time too. ![]() Some people use infantilism as a way to unwind and relax from a stressful day at the office.. others use it as a form of BDSM (control and humiliation).. and yes, some use it as an emotional crutch. To some it's a lifestyle, and others it's just for fun. As an observation, I must admit that I may have been over zealous with my initial post. People here seem to be alot more level headed and openminded than I usually run into in various forums. Kudos to you all. You should have seen the flamewar going on when the topic of babyfurs (furries who are also into infantilism) came up in a FURRY forum.. they were all agast, vocally berating a sub-section of their own furry culture yet at the same time demanding respect for furries from non-furries. *rolls eyes* Quite hypocritical if you ask me. |

Here is a question: Why do we feel "repulsed" or "revulsion" when it comes to sexual practice that stands outside our own experience? Well, that's not always the reaction. My reaction to the guy in the picture above is more like . . . huh? As in, how could that possibly turn someone on? Sort of like if someone presented a file cabinet as a sexual turn-on. Revulsion would come more into play in terms of, for instance ....... how to put it ....... fascination with and ingestion of waste matter. Most things would fall somewhere in between the filing cabinet and the waste matter, in terms of the ability of the non-practitioner to understand them. And then there is "horrified," in the case of people whose sexual excitement depends on control of another individual to the point of murder, and sometimes beyond. coco _____________________

ok I know teabagging, learned about a year ago! Hubby had to tell me lmao and he also had to tell me wtf 'camel toe' meant dunno what a goatse is or a sling does and I assume UR not talking about the one U use for a broken arm hehe. Replying to this post has made me feel like I need a shower ![]() Goatse refers to a man made famous on the internet for the ability to stretch his anus VERY wide open. Last I heard he died a few years back. And by wide, I mead W-I-D-E. Twas also a fun pic to spring on newbs just to watch their reaction Teabagging is also performed in online games. You teabag the guy you just shot as a way of saying "PWNED". Tends to rile them up. Not sure about Sling. Now I gotta go google it!!! _____________________

I'm usually a live and let live kind of person and I don't get upset or crazy over another person lifestyle. As long as the people involved are adults and consenting, who cares what they do .... usually. I can't help it, I find the whole adult baby thing disgusting and they should be shot! It makes me feel the willies just thinking about it. A forty year old guy or gal in diapers and a bottle crying to be changed SHUDDER!!!! ... gag .... I just can't help it. This one thing I just can't get past. |
