Yes, I got a 3-day suspension for objecting to what I contended were attacks and sexually-harassing language on the part of another poster. IF that was it. It might have been, however, turning around and saying something to another person that he had just said to me.

Before that, I also got a formal warning for saying, "Gee, you're awfully hostile for a mentor."

That is the extent of my so-called "rap sheet."

I've also said TIME AND TIME AGAIN that what happens to one of us is something that threatens ALL OF US.

Wait till it happens to YOU. I guess you are just FILLED with confidence now that someone has actually gotten a warning for calling another person a moron on the forums. I suppose you are certain this sort of thing only happens to other people, and somehow - they ALWAYS deserved it.

And I guess you don't see any disconnect between what goes on on the grid, the recent policy changes to allow more of same, the removal of one of our AR tools, the approval of a product that allows a griefer to track anyone, anywhere, on the map, and the nonsense that shows up on the police blotter compared to the actual crimes that go on in the game, not to MENTION making a joke out of the police blotter today! - with the SHEER LUNACY of giving someone a formal warning for calling another person a moron on the forums.

And then when it happens to someone else, and someone else, and someone else; then what will you say? I could be here or not here; I could have said anything or nothing; it doesn't matter a bit. You know damn well this isn't right.

Or are you gonna let me stand here and maybe take the fall for saying the things you don't dare to? Again?

P.S. You know, I think what has really infuriated me with this is the feeling that I - we all - have been jerked around. I mean, I have gone from concerned to infuriated in like 12.6 minutes here.

First it's the moron thing. Yes, that would be stupid, but it's certainly plausible given the history of SL management. Still, I'm thinking, "I don't know the whole story," and so I go to study the police blotter.

That's when I see the HEDGEHOG thing. And I think, oh, well, everything is okay after all. Somebody has hacked into the police blotter is all.

And report that in these two threads.

Then come to find out, "Oh, we meant that about the moron thing, but the hedgehog deal, that is just a joke."

However despairing I might have been about the moron thing, it wouldn't have been with NEARLY THIS MUCH ANGER if it hadn't been for the hedgehog "joke."

I am completely infuriated.

I have three formal warnings.

Two for quoting others while their original quotes were left to stand, and one for posting a pic of the pope, in OT of all places, saying, "I see you masturbating."

So the next one is likely suspension. Do I deserve to be in line for a suspension because of those fairly bogus warnings? I don't think so - but - I will just go to the lake, work in the yard, visit friends or relatives, etc., and come back later. I just don't see how turning inconsistency into a federal case is going to accomplish anything. Inconsistency is the norm here, I am used to it, and I don't think it's based upon who you are. I just live with it. The day I get wound up enough over it, is the day I walk, and go on to something else. This is not the focal point of my universe, and, in 5 years, I don't want to look back and be any more embarassed than I already will be for taking this shit too seriously. Let's have fun.

And, by the way, I am winding down now. I really think it was me, trying to sincerely find an explanation that didn't indict the Lindens, then it turns out I've been JERKED AROUND that pissed me off.

Of course, if a person WAS actually warned for calling someone a moron, then that still very bad.

But . . . I think really they were both jokes.

In which case: If we can't take the police blotter seriously, WHAT CAN WE TAKE SERIOUSLY?

Even if this was just a little horsing around by someone who didn't mean anything by it, and just didn't think it through, this should never happen.

The punishments they deal out are very real and very meaninful to those who get them - or at least they are to those of us who are actually good citizens, and CARE about our reputations and whether we lose 3 days or whatever on the game.

If the Lindens aren't going to treat this one area, at least, as sacrosanct, then how the heck can we take anything in SL seriously?

It may be true that turning inconsistency into a federal case may not accomplish anything, but I think it is certainly just as true that ignoring things isn't going to help at all.

I'm calming down, now, though, thankfully. Especially now that it's occured to me that the "moron" thing was a joke, too, after all. (It's got to be. IT BETTER BE.)

For a while there, I was about ready to run into the game and abandon my land! Which I don't want to do, not being a big fan of cutting off my nose to spite my face. Now I've had time to realize that it is just really bad judgment on someone's part.

Agreed, but I think I've just figured it out....

Sonic the Hedgehog was introduced June 23, 1991 -- IOW, 15 years ago. Sega is doing a lot of promotions around this. Betcha that's what inspired this...albeit 1 week late.
