Incorrect, the doctor gives the woman information so she can make an informed decision.
Has our friend Der been pulling ideas out of his lower gastro-intestinal tract again?

The doctor doesn't give the woman a choice to die.

Medical reasons for abortion are not limited to scenarios where the mother is going to die Kevn, as you well know.

It's amazing that of the people posting to this thread, not one has referenced the actual poll by answering it.

I said the "right of a woman to choose" which indicates a choice. For medically nessarary abortions the doctor decides, not the woman.

No, the woman decides to either carry the baby to term or not if there is something wrong with the baby. She also decides if she wants to deliver the baby even if it affects her health adversely or if it might kill her.

Your emotional response doesn't further your agenda. I never stated partial-birth abortions were not rare. But if it makes you feel better, yell and cuss, it wont affect the poll.

That was not an emotional response. And I have no agenda when it comes to abortion, other then pointing out stupidity and trying to derail the threads because this is a tiresome topic.

My only agenda is warning the world of the Scientologists plan to take over the world by using a zombie army that they are creating in the area that I live. Their anti-christ is about to be born and I don't really want to be eaten by the zombies. LL is also working with them and using the resmods as an attempt to mind control the zombies. If they can accomplish mind control in the forums, then they will know that it will work on mindless zombies and can then unleash hell upon earth.

I will post here in forums the second I see zombies on my lawn.

That's what makes these forums great, we don't HAVE to select a response in your poll.

Okay, so you have been imagining how you'd like to the world to operate again and forming it into a statement.

Informed Consent is not nearly so black and white as you'd have it be. Let's talk about appendicitis. You may enter a hospital and find that you have an inflamed appendix. So long as you are capable of making decisions for yourself, the physician may say somthing like "There is a 50% chance that the appendix will burst and cause you fatal septic shock, so I'd like to remove it. However, there is a 1/10,000 chance that the anesthesia will kill you, we don't know why, it just happens." At that point, you can choose either route freely. Even if it bursts and you go into shock and you aren't capable of making the decision any longer, they have to make an effort to contact your kin and obtain their consent. Only failing that, the physician, almost always in concert with concurring physician's opinion will then be able to "make the decision" for you.

I'd explain how the analogous situation happens in the case of maternal distress, but you'd just ignore it anyway.

Unless you want to discuss your answer to the poll, I will ignore you in this thread.

Awww, muffin. No one wants to answer your poll? That's sad. I guess you should be ignoring me too.

By his current thread of logic, he should be ignoring everyone, except himself.
No, sorry, isn't that effectively does anyway?

I voted, even though my preferred choice was not listed.

Cris, you are welcome. I am glad a few people caught that. :D

I answered it. I said no limits.

A woman tends to know pretty soon whether she wants to go through with a pregnany or not. If she's having an abortion that late in the game, there's usually a damned good reason for it. I trust her judgment.

And, I answered before you changed the rules on everyone

Feel free to explain a change. But right now you seem to have no limit on convenience abortions.

You see, cookie, that's what's happens when you don't state all the criteria when you put up a poll. That's why I ask questions before I answer any polls... to find out how skewed they really are. Then I usually don't answer them. Especially when there are options left off.

The cdc says that late term abortions are extremely rare. So IF there are 'convenience' late term abortions, they would be taking a percentage of 1.4% (which is the current rate of late term abortions among all abortions).

unbiased governmental statistics: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/ss5407a1.htm

I don't think facts and statistics have anything to do with Kevn's poll :p

I completely understand your decision here Kevn!!! Damn these people with their annoying insistance on sticking with the facts and avoiding a stilted poll predesigned to support your predetermined opinion! Who do they think they are?

Well to clarify, I was merely pointing out that 'convenience' abortions do not happen at all. Or they happen 100% of the time (for abortions) depending on your definition, context and use of convenient.

But that can't be, the anti-christ isn't born yet. LL hasn't finished their testing!!

OMG WHAT IS HAPPENING!?!?!

Oh, it's just an old man.....oops. Didn't mean to sound the false alarm that the world was starting to end.

carry on...
