There are only a few levels of pain, at that level you kinda block it out...
Mauled to death by a few hundred rats or having your skinned peeled off of your body, then being tied to a tree in a swamp, high enough so alligators can't eat you but low enough so that the misquitos can suck all of your blood from your body a few small drops at a time?
