I watched "Anatomy of a Collapse" the other day on the Discovery Channel.
It was really very interesting... and that's all i'm gonna say about that. _____________________

Chicken ![]() "The flight that fought back" was on before that, and it was very very well made. Good re-enactment actors, and Kiefer Sutherland narrated it. _____________________

Doesn't it seem especially wrong for LL to close down the forums on 9/11? Or is it just me?

How about if I rephrase it?
"Does it seem especially wrong for LL to shut the forums down? Or is it just me?" Better? ![]() _____________________

Note to Future Terrorists:
Please perform your acts of terror & carnage on a date Americans are likely to remember. After all, few remember the Oklahoma City bombing, much less the dates without having to look it up. ======================================== While I'm at it- folks in the USA tend to also forget that terrorists have been at work around the world loooong before 9/11. Until then most couldnt care any less. My favorite so far are the stories of children who lost their father on that date & are asking "Where's my daddy?" As if no child ever grew up without a father before. |

After all, few remember the Oklahoma City bombing, much less the dates without having to look it up. McVeigh chose the date for the Oklahoma City bombing to coincide with the anniversary of the end of the Waco siege. And another note. I keep hearing people say that they no longer felt safe after 9/11.... Well, maybe they were too young because I felt a lot less safe growing up during the cold war. Somehow the possibility that civilization as we know it could be wiped out in a nuclear war made me feel much less safe than anything a terrorist organization could do. _____________________

They did a big thing at the river front park here in Salem yesterday. They put up special flag that had the names of all the people that died on 9/11.
One flag for each person. At first I thought it was just a stupid political stunt, and it annoyed me that they would use something like this for politics. But as I wandered through them I began to realize that it was something else. It's one thing to hear X number of people died. But when I saw all those flags, and there were a lot of flags, it made that number seem more real. You really got a sense for just how many people died. Here is a pic I took, and this only shows about half the flags that were up: ![]() _____________________

If you kill one, its a tragedy. If you kill a million, its a statistic. he was one seriously cold mother fucker, but he knew how people think. |

If you kill one, its a tragedy. If you kill a million, its a statistic. he was one seriously cold mother fucker, but he knew how people think. The really weird thing was that it actually felt like it was a bunch of people standing there, and not just flags. A little ways off they also had flags set up for each soldier that has died in Iraq. And each flag in that area had a little wooden sign in front of it with a soldiers name printed on it. As I moved past them I tried to read as many names as I could. Not just glance at them, but actually read the name. I tried to think about the person that name refered to. Had they been in sports in school? Did they like to drag race against their friends? Did they go to the prom? Etc. All in all it was an interesting experience. _____________________

How about if I rephrase it? "Does it seem especially wrong for LL to shut the forums down? Or is it just me?" Nah, it's nearly through the 'grief process' - The media stopped whoring it 2 year ago.. Last year they were allowed to make 're-enactments' for television.. and this year Hollywood is allowed to drag a few bucks outta the dead horse. Next year it will be 'just another day' A shame really - because I'd really like a comprehensive list of how many 'little freedoms' were lost over the last several years - funnily enough I don't feel any 'safer' Oh, and a profit chart for flag companies. _____________________
