I always got a very creepy feeling about this guy and now I know why. Glad I took her out of Ward Highland's Elementary School in Ocala, FL after her kindergarten year.

http://www.local6.com/news/9438276/detail.html

He was a pompous ass when he was the principal, suggesting to me when I complained about my 5 year old child not getting anything to drink on a 98 degree day that "perhaps she would be better served in a private school."

I hope they throw the book at him :D

You know, the guy may have been a creep but the news article itself is very vague. I dunno. He wasn't even in a park, he was in a car.

It's difficult to know what happened from the article, but I did get the impression that he might have been entrapped. Is entrapment legitimate in the States?

Didn't you tell me what they do on that Dateline show was entrapment? I imagine if it was illegal they couldn't do it, but anything seems to go these days if you put the word terrorist or pedophile in front of it.

Ha! What a loser!
When I was a sub teacher I ran into a few principles who were just as obnoxious. I don't know if they went around exposing themselves, but the position does seem to attract a few weirdos looking for a power trip or a kid to exploit. Just like firefighting attracts arsonists and police work attracts bullies.*

*to avoid the inevitible "I/My Dad/My Uncle Larry is a principal/firefighter/cop how DARE you imply that they blah blah blah..." response let me point out that I'm not talking about the majority of them. I'm talking about a tiny percentage that was attracted to the job for the shady reasons.
Then again, I'll probably get the "How Dare You...!" flame anyway.

Here's the thing.......he is an extremely conservative pompous ass. I think this is what pisses me off the most. I mean, come on, if you're gonna be gay or bi, just freaking be gay or bi. I wouldn't have batted an eyelash if he'd been openly gay when he was the principal of the school. I don't care what you do in the privacy of your own home. I do care, though, if you expose your private parts in a public place whether you're gay or straight. Especially if you're in an important position in the Board of Education! Of course, if he was going to come out, he'd have to work in Alachua County instead of Marion County. Alachua County is home to Gainesville and the University of Florida and is a very liberal, anything goes kinda town. He could have just been himself here, if he wanted to. He's married, with children, so this is gonna get interesting :D

I feel kind of bad for gloating, but he was such a prick to me when my child went to the school he was principal of, I can't help it!

You're assuming that the deputy was a man.

It looks (from the complete lack of news in the news article LOL) like either a prostitution bust or a solicitation bust. Probably the latter. Ever since the US Supreme Court invalidated state sodomy laws some local (and state) governments have continued to arrest men who cruise public places for pick-ups. They aren't charged with sodomy any more, but they are usually charged with "solicitation" or in this case, parking somewhere to get off with your trick and exposing yourself to him.

The principal's only really egregious action was exposing himself in the car. He should have had the sense to take the deputy back to his hotel room. Of course then he would probably have been charged with "solicitation" (because asking somebody if they want to have sex is a crime in much of the USA, but it's only usually enforced in same sex situations) or prostitution. The man didn't commit a sex crime in the real sense of the word. His partner, the deputy, was a consenting adult. It was no more a sex crime than two teenagers in a car on Lovers Lane engaged in a little heavy petting.

Odd coincidence. That actor, Jeffrey Jones had a little brush with the law too.

I'm starting a new "old" saying today. You are what you flash. :D

As the mother of a child who was directly under his supervision, I'm glad the cops are doing such a fine job.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm pretty tolerant of other people's lifestyle choices. However, this man is in a position of responsibility for the Marion County Florida public school system. I have a problem with him going to a lake (while at a seminar/meeting paid for by the taxpayers of Marion county) and soliciting strangers for sex, then exposing himself. If he were on his own time and chose to go to a bar, pick up a stranger and take him back to his home/hotel room, I wouldn't give a damn what he did.

Sorry I'd rather they spent tax payers money catching thieves, rapists and drug dealers. Not entraping some saddo. You obviously have different ideas in America!

He picked up a trick at a park. A consenting, adult trick. He then "exposed" himself to said trick. His mistake was that the trick was a lying sack of crap cop. No one was hurt. No one saw anything except the jerk cop. No danger to society. Nothing but anti-gay BS. How many straight couples have lost their virginity in the back seat of a car? How many of them are arrested?

And the nonsense that he was on a tax payer funded trip is BS too. Did you check to see if the other people there did anything else you disliked? He can't do anything you don't like while attending a seminar? Even on his own, free time?

Oh, and, last but not at all least, it's not a lifestyle choice. He chose his behavior, he didn't choose his sexual orientation.

Identifying or defining a rule as a principle says that, for the purpose at hand, the principle will not be questioned or further derived. This is a convenient way of reducing the complexity of an argumentation.

That is what Wikipedia states, and who am I to argue.

Which particular principles did you find obnoxious, as a sub teacher?

"The report said Bruce Foster, who is the executive director of school development and evaluation for Marion County Schools, began talking with an undercover agent at the Kissimmee Lakefront Tuesday night at 8 p.m.After a conversation, Foster asked the undercover deputy to go to a more secluded location, the report said."

According to the article, he began talking to them. If the suspect initiates, its not entrapment. That's why its legal to arrest Johns when they approach undercovers posing as prostitutes.

It would be entrapment if they approached him and said, "Hey come over here and expose yourself." He started the conversation. He asked them to go to a secluded area. He initiated, so yeah, he got arrested. Sicko.

Wow that was a jump. The article just said he exposed himself an "undercover deputy." The gender of the officer wasn't mentioned. I think you're seeing bias where there might not be any.
